Thanks for the pics. Fits in pretty well and turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

A good result.

I wonder what they plan to do about that annoying little sliver of the old building facade which still exists between this one and their neighbour?

It's no award winner but a nice little density filler imo.
For what is, essentially, Holiday Inn's answer to the Ibis Budget, it's turned out pretty good

Looks pretty nice, although I'm not convinced about the eastern wall yet. I'll need to take a look at it in the flesh at some stage.

Isn't that little building a part of the neighbour?

I don't see how it's annoying though. It's a neat little old building, even if it breaks up the two wider buildings.

No, not the white building. I love that. I meant the small jagged sliver of material from the demolished building that is still attached to the white building - the edge is still really uneven from where the old facade was chipped away. Just needs someone with a demo saw to come along and neaten it off.

It was certainly like that when I last cycled past a couple of weeks ago and looks like it's still there from the photo.

Lines look clean, but I would have preferred a more arty, olde worlde look for the podium, more in keeping with old Hindley St, which looks like a mad woman's breakfast, design-wise, along this stretch. The height looks good though and I don't mind the tower either.
cheers,
Rhino

I agree it's turned out quite nice. 20x better than the horrid LC building.

Two of the three Hindley Street-facing tenancies have been leased, one more to go on that side. I'm not sure where the fourth one is (if there is one).

Cycled past this morning and think it looks excellent - really improves the looks and feel of this area of Hindley Street.

Plus, they've fixed that little sliver of the old building facade so I'm happy :)

There's a Japanese restaurant Akimitsu that has been open for a while and a Thai restaurant 8020BK opened on the Blyth street side last week. Not sure who has leased the final Hindley Street tenancies or balcony.
