Check out the latest drone footage of the Northern Connector Project progress!

The footage, shot in early September, shows the largest of the 10 bridges of the project taking shape with one of its 626 bridge beams being craned into place. This bridge which is north of the South Road Superway off-ramp spans a huge 400 metres.

The footage also shows extensive native plantings and landscaping, with approximately 949,000 trees, plants and shrubs being planted across the project.

The 15.5 km Northern Connector will be the first major concrete road in South Australia, which can also be seen in the footage.

Pretty much - or exit NC before PRExy and travel down Salisbury Highway via Port Wakefield Road.

Will the PRExy exit join Salisbury Highway far enough east that it would be possible to cross over and exit onto the ground level South Road immediately? I can't find a detailed enough picture or plan to confirm that either way.

From what it appears from driving through the interchange, no. And even if so, jumping 3 lanes of freeway traffic is kinda dumb

Exiting at GJ Road is no big deal anyway, and is the safest route.

New traffic light signals have been installed at the intersection of Bolivar Road and Port Wakefield Road (not switched on yet). I gather some of the existing ones will be removed shortly.

The State Transport Minister Stephen Knoll said today that an open day will be held in February 2020

I didn't think he mentioned an open day in the report, but he did mention it should open in February 2020.

Peak hour traffic is pretty much non-existant around that area over Christmas/New Year, and traffic around that area is generally lighter in January as well. Hopefully by the time traffic is back to the car park levels you get at the moment the road is all but ready to open.

Peak hour traffic is pretty much non-existant around that area over Christmas/New Year, and traffic around that area is generally lighter in January as well. Hopefully by the time traffic is back to the car park levels you get at the moment the road is all but ready to open.

Any closure of the northbound PWR->NExy ramp before the whole northbound NC opens needs to be done at the quietest possible time to manage traffic on any diversion detours such as Heaslip Road or Angle Vale Road.

Road trains are generally not permitted to travel northbound on Heaslip Road between Waterloo Corner Road and Penfield Road. I don't know if the restriction is for traffic management, sight lines or road widths. They do now travel up the Northern Expressway and the nearest general detour on RAVNet would be via Port Wakefield, Balaklava and Mallala. That's a long detour to get to the Barossa or Riverland!

The week between Christmas-New Year would be the ideal time for that, but that'll be during the site shutdown over that period.
