It's an El Nina year, so there has been more rain. Also, those parts of the parklands have been upgraded over the last few years, so they are being watered on a regular basis.

Yeah most of that grass in view is used as sports playing fields so is kept in good condition.

I noticed last time I was in Adelaide there appeared some sort of wetlands do on the corner parkland by port road opposite the old Ice Arena (but I believe they actually restored that area maybe 15 years ago?) - is that used for the irrigation?
I remember playing high school cricket around there in the 90s and during summer the fields were so hard and dry you half expected to find a baby brown if you grassed a catch
