There are two single bed apartments on each level on the northern end of the building. The north-western apartment has a balcony which faces Hindmarsh Sq
and a couple of windows on the northern wall wheras the north-eastern apartment has a balcony which eminates from the northern wall - i.e. faces the hotel complex

is it true in some countries buildings dont have a 13th floor? (goes from 12 to 14) or is that just a load of baloney?

The Crowne Plaza in Darwin has no 13th Floor!

Type: Application Assessed on Merit

Lodgement Date: 27/06/2008
Location: Development Site - Crowne Plaza Hotel, 8-32 Hindmarsh Square, ADELAIDE SA 5000
Description: Vary previous authorisation to demolish existing cinema complex and construct a multi level residential apartment/hotel complex (comprised of one 14 storey tower and one 15 storey tower) with ground floor retail tenancies and associated car parking - changes to the loading dock, remove some balconies, remove protruding lift shaft, reduce hotel room numbers from 322 to 308 and increase apartment numbers by 11 and add a machine room to eastern end of hotel building - STAGE 2 - SUBSTRUCTURE - STRUCTURAL ASPECTS

Any idea how these changes will affect the look of this development?

Quite a bit of action on site in the last two weeks:
- Permanent fencing being placed on York St.
- BH site offices now on site
- mobile crane on site today
Looks like this is ready to take off (finally).

2010 completion date? I would've expected mid-late 2009 finish - judging by the speed of CoH, I would've expected the same out of this. Well, it looks bloody good anyway.

I'm not trying to be a negative Nelly or put Adelaide out of its league etc, but does anyone else cringe a little when we refer to buildings as towers when they 15 levels etc? Just a thought.

i don't cringe but i agree that it sounds a bit stupid, however what annoys me is when people say town, as in 'meet you in town', its stupid but i always say 'the city' and am always correcting people saying 'its a city not a town' lol :D

That happens in every city - even Sydney and Melbourne.

I say 'town' majority of the time.
