Unexpected website outage - hacking attempt on s-a.

We had yet another website outage yesterday, apparently we were subjected to a hack attempt. At first we thought the web host we're at fault (although that hasn't been totally ruled out yet), but our logs were showing some strange activity originating from about 270 computers overseas. Their ip's are now blocked and the forum software has been fully patched. Nothing was compromised, besides the ability to see the index page of the forum.

We're in the process of moving to our new VPS at the moment.. which will help with the problem too.
