slightly off topic, but....

I heard somewhere that the "Marj on the Railyards" proposal has hit a real problem. Helicopters flying in/out of the hospital will breach air safety guidelines by either going too high (and risk collision with a plane) or going too low (and breaching "minimum flight height over suburbia" guidelines). D'oh!

Further tangible evidence that the Marj looks to be scrapped altogether. Hurrah!

That's not very helpful if you boarded the wrong plane bound for Adelaide or Perth. You'd think you'd arrived at your destination...

How is it possible that the RAH would not have also had that problem? Is it just a matter of proximity to the airport's approach path?

While they do look similar, I'm almost certain Adelaide borrowed the silver "air conditioner things" and the timber wall from Sydney Airport.

Yes, I noticed that too! Perhaps they did it because terminal WA is only going to be used for regional flights and they're not bothered to be creative or imaginative with it. Or, because, it's a render/artists' impression.

I mentioned this long way back when they first proposed the Marj. Not only that but there's a fault line right next door. As for a stadium there may be issues too with helicopters. They are usually used for security reasons. If they can hover high enough they may avoid the fightpaths (landing and takeoffs), but that's a question AAL or a pilot can answer properly.

The Bowden/Brompton area is lower than North Adelaide. Jets coming from the north should be at about the same height as when they are over the Municipal golf course on the present flightpath. There would have to be height limitations of course. I can still see 8 storey apartment blocks being built. The question is, would you live there knowing planes will be overhead or close by?
