It seems to be on the Yorke Campus site, but it looks nothing like the original renders of Yorke Campus. And it's about double the height.
cheers,

YCC was originally planned as 2 x 8 levels and 1 x 10 levels.

Yes this is definately the Yorke Campus development, it is the same developers.

All as they have done is changed the colour scheme and added a few details. The height looks the same to me, definately not double the height.

Well it is good to see this one continuing.
I know that a lot of you are are disappointed with the height of the proposed new police headquarters but you can see the sense in having large floorplates for an organisation such as this.
Quite honestly any building progress in this current economic climate is a good achievement - it also appears that the government is trying to kick start the Yorke Campus project.
I quite like this proposal - I just hope that they change the building next door and we don't end up with clones.

Even though this is proposed atm I guess we can pretty much say it is approved as it will come in front of the new government run DA panel.

That render is a perfect example of the low impact it will have (unless you over the SE corner of the city) especially if the other 2 don't go ahead.

This development has already been approved. It only looks like colour scheme changes really. They may not even need to lodge a new application.

I agree development in the current climate is positive but that doesn't mean I am happy with just anything. I was hoping for more from this announcement. Something to get half exicted about. If it was low in height I was hoping for something architecturaly interesting. Not a wide, bland box. I have heard some other proposals were far more interesting from a design point of view and taller. Obviously not what the government was looking for in this instance.

With the height limit of this area listed as 40m it would have been more difficult for the original design to have got through council. While they might have been able to resubmit the application, the police did have the requirement for being the sole tenant of the building.

The original design I believe had space for Mitsubishi to have their workshops in the building, but no doubt that has been changed. Maybe that was the appeal of the campus nature of the building - the amount of carparking available in the building and the easy access to it.

I am wondering though if they would build both buildings at the same time? In this climate without a tenant for the 2nd building it seems unlikely, but then it leaves the possibility of 2nd building going up later which the police might not like the security of?

Personally I like the simple campus design, and really thing this will help give the area a lift. It's not very far from "core" cbd, and hopefully might encourage some more infill.

There appears to be some misunderstandings regarding this development. This is the Yorke Commercial Campus development.

This development has already being approved.

The only difference that I can see is that the height has been increased by 2m (however this could just be some rounding made by the Advertiser in that 40m presents an easier to understand number compared to 38m).

The developers have planning apporval for 2, 10 level buildings of 38m as well as a 8 level, 32m building on the corner of Angas and Pulteney Streets for student accomodation.

This is going to make a impact on Angas Street and hopefully kick start development in that area.

Mobile Petrol Station and large carpark are development hotspots.

I expect this would be the showroom on the corner of Pulteney & Angas which has been up for rent for the past month. It was available on short or long term lease.
The police were not going to be in this part of the development, which had planning approval to be student accommodation, but in the building further down Angas St.
