Then what is it they're building on the square right now? Just shops?

It's shops (surfwear) and restaurants. I think they have underestimated the opportunites they had on this prime piece of land.

They have really wasted a great South Australian tourist destination. It is upsetting to think what could have been.

There is an intencity just down the road at Marion, this should have been so much more than that. It should have rivilled Sydney and Melbourne's Launa Parks but instead it a great shame.

High-rise = greater than 3 levels! Some would say Santos is not a high-rise.

It is ridiculous, but unfortunately that is the truth. Certain members of the council as well as the local residents associations are living in such a time warp that they genuinely believe that over 3 levels is high-rise.

I went to the beach house to have a look the other day, not bad for the children, most of them seems to like it very much and are very excited and screaming and shouting and pretty noisy all over, but I reckon it is built a little bit too small, could have gone much bigger and stuffed in more plays for the chilldren.

If they could just built a theme park at Glenelg, it would hit hard as the next Surfer's Paradise :D

Does anyone know if the ferris wheel has gone up at the Beach House yet? Any pics of the final result?

$40 million patawalonga development

#38 Post by gregrogers257 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 11:51 am

The development proposed for the empty block of land on Adelpi Terrace (near the brigde that goes over the patawalonga) was advertised in the real estate section of yesterday's advertiser.

According to the advertisement construction is going to commence in early 2007. However I am doubtful about this happening.

I remember this development being advertised 4-5 years ago and it did not go ahead, due to poor sales. The development involves 23 townhouse developments which start from $1.3 million each.

The apartment market is already saturated in glenelg. Is there really that many people willing to pay at least $1.3 million for these apartments.... I doubt it...

I hope they get that ferris wheel up before summer. Does it seem to get busy at the Beachouse? Glenelg is looking great, I'll have to take a trip down there soon.

yeah the ferris wheel is the next big thing to look forward to down at glenelg.....should be interesting. Glenelg really is great these days......
I didn't like the beachhouse at first but it has grown on me...

if glenelg keeps on developing then I think it could be the best seaside suburb in australia !!!

why do you doubt it ?

What other seaside suburbs are better ?

Firstly I would forget about anything in melbourne, brisbane and on the gold coast..... That only leaves sydney, perth and the sunshine coast.....
I don't think any of the seaside suburbs in these places are all that much better than Glenelg.........
