I walk past the Puletney St facade every day on my walk to work. The old car showroom is being filled up with gear from another part of the building - I figured demolition was imminent.

I walk past the Puletney St facade every day on my walk to work. The old car showroom is being filled up with gear from another part of the building - I figured demolition was imminent.

Just a few weeks ago, I saw them fitting out the showroom part with plaster walls though, as if they were been set up as offices. So not sure what the go is.

I must get in and take a few more shots of the car park portion, as there's some nice retro handpainted signs up there which won't be around much longer.

After what seems a long time the site is pretty well cleared by yesterday. There is some steelwork to be moved but all the columns and roof have been demolished. It's a big block of land!

Most of the concrete slab has now been removed and today they are installing a road barrier/fencing onto Angas Street to create I guess a truck entrance area.

I'm guessing it won't be too far away and they will be digging out the basement area. Does anyone have any idea how many levels of basement area this one ended up having?

So is this just the Police HQ now? What happened to the Mitsubishi part of this?

A couple of drilling rigs at work on the site and hopefully there will be more people / action in the next month or so. It is a big floor plate and will add some bulk to the street and also the east side of the city. Not a lot of other building or site preparation happening around the CBD though.

Went past this site on 7/1/10 on my tour of 'inspection of works' in the CBD but could not see much other than barriers - certainly evident that action was happening however. Does anyone know the story concerning cranes for this?

CONSTRUCTION work on the new $100m Angas St Police Headquarters has started.

Site works and preliminary construction is underway for the headquarters that is schedule for completion by the end of 2011.

The five-star energy rated building will house more than 1000 staff on its nine floors as a hub for branches including Firearms, Records, Prosecutors, Anti Corruption and Sexual Crimes Investigation.

It follows a $6.5m upgrade to Christies Beach complex, $8m towards the construction of a Roxby Downs facility and $9.5m for a new station at Murray Bridge.

there's a lot of workers on this site in Angas St today. This is the police headquarters aint it, or something else - better not be another friggin carpark, actually how could there not be a carpark attached to it

End of 2011? Shouldn't that be "End of 2010"? The building is only a paltry ten levels. Anyone know how long it took to build the 91 level Eureka Tower in Melbourne?

Construction of Eureka began in 2001 and the building was complete in October of 2006.

The new Engineering Building in Adelaide Uni started in January 2008 and won't be completed until mid-2010, and that's only 8 levels. Unless you're the contractor, you can only guess as to what might cause construction to be spread out over this period of time.
