The podium adresses the neighbouring apartment building quite well. It's rare to see that in new developments in Adelaide.

I wonder if the coloured glass at the base will stay. Sure looks funky. I reckon they could've separated the towers a bit more too. At first glance, it looks like one fat tower.

This is what they want to knock down. Its rather ugly from the street, new windows, and some paint could have saved the south facade. Looks horrid from the west though.

It'd also make the Truscott's car park a good spot for construction shots!

Plans are now on the ACC website including new render and it looks Sensational to say the least. There is a 17 level and 15 level tower now and the coloured bits seem to have gone.

Looks good to say the least. And look it the height... the taller tower looks about 75m high. This project, with spire is probably at the top of my hope it gets built list.

Conservative bullshit.

Santos, now Telstra. Relatively adventurous designs watered down to cheap american beer.

^^ I thought this actually looks better than the original design. Never really sure about those coloured glass sections. Really think that this will become the home of Transport SA. Any news on dates?

Now I understand about perspectives and such but does this render look like it's wider at the top than the bottom? I just wish people would put some curves into their buildings and not just cubes.

Thanks for the info and image Beamer!

But, yawn, another un-inspiring cube.

Hey, it's great that Adelaide DAP now seems to provide renders of new proposals. I haven't visited the site for quite some time. Maybe they listened to my recommendation a while ago about giving making renders available on their site. Probably not though, although I like to think I am so influential

Has anything more been heard about this. I quite like the looks of the renders, and am hoping that this is going to go up along with the rest of the CityWest preceint.

Go-ahead for city's twin towersTOM ZED

A TWO-WING high-rise development planned for Franklin St will provide office space for up to 3000 city workers.

Featuring two towers joined by a glass core, the multi-million dollar proposal was given the green light at last night's Development Assessment Panel meeting.

The two towers will be built on the site of the old Telstra exchange building at 42-56 Franklin St, opposite Pitt St.

The development will include 808sq m of ground level retail space, more than 31,000sq m of office space and 278 car parking spaces over six levels.

Lord Mayor Michael Harbison said the development was a "very exciting addition" to the city.

"This development will not only increase activity in the area but is also an example of best practice with regard to sustainable energy efficient development," he said.

"A building of that scale adjacent to Victoria Square in Franklin St will really transform the street."

Developers Ambitio Pty Ltd and Pinako Pty Ltd have committed to obtaining at least a four-star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating and a five-star Greenstar rating for environmentally sustainable development.

The western tower will be 17 storeys and 63.5m high. The eastern tower will be slightly shorter at 15 storeys and 56.5m.

The central core which will link the two towers will be 67m tall.

Its approved! Hip-hip hooray.
Something struck me though, it says the core will rise above the roofline. Core height is 67m, roofline is 63m. I hope this little 'protrusion' doesnt turn out ugly. But as for the rest of the building it looks sweet, although yet another glass box.
