They do look terrible. If you had the choice, what colour would they be?

Not being an Architect with a thousand dollars worth of CAD software in front of me, I'd suggest removing them completely.

That's probably the best option. :)

Still not a fan of this building but at least they have the shutters open at times shown in the 1st pic. Maybe they will only close them in the arvo for the afternoon sun. Some pics from this morning:

To address the imbalance of a 15 storey building next to a 5 storey building. It does the job quite well, I actually like it a lot.

IAG is a piece of shit though, I won't ever use SGIC insurance after this crime of a building.

The shutters on the western curtain wall will be useless when they build a similar height (or taller) building on the adjacent Savings & Loans Credit Union site. Can't wait to see that happen.

The red bar things really are awful.

The Santos building is a shocker. Looked alright in the initial render, but the real thing is very ugly.

I work next door and it looks even worse close up.

IMO, the building looks good. yes the western elevation is a bit bland, and the cooling towers are rather large, but overall i like the simplicty but sleek modern finish to it.
im hoping someone is going to do something about that savings and loans branch next door, because i think that another glassy modern building (low-midrise preferably) would fit in rather nicely with the whole flinders link development.

That Savings and Loans building was only built about 5 years ago. There's no way it'll be replaced for a long time.

It was built around 1981.

Oh yeah, I forgot there are two. I was thinking about the one right on the corner, the actual branch.

Great pic updates Mants! Cheap and nasty world headquarters and headoffice building for a big insurer though. The more I see them both the more I hate them both. The western elevation of Santos really gets me though, terrible architecture there. There are far better shading options than what looks like bloody industrial roofing, yuk! Also exposed concrete at the entrance to Santos, wtf! If that stays like that, it is a disgrace. I think it will stay like that too

Both are ugly from outside. So plain.
The Santos building is revolting - those red bars are awful, and the cheap glass looks ugly.

Both buildings look great inside. (I work in IAG).

The Santos building has a great open staircase inside that goes between all floors - large lit up aquarium on one of the floors.

Pity they're so boring and unattractive from the outside so. The renders looked a lot better than the actual buildings have turned out.

Santos moved in yesterday. so Santos House has been vacated more or less.
each floor in the building is themed to fit a certain location where Santos is working.

eg. Santos works out on a lot of offshore rigs, so there is a big aquarium on that level. another level is African and Moroccan themed, and so on.
