So what is their plan with this space then? Every other gov had some type of plan with this space. What does Malaka wanna do with it? Am I missing something?

Relax mate, no need to rush into something because it’s currently vacant. Construction costs have obviously increased across the board since covid.Mpol02 wrote:So what is their plan with this space then? Every other gov had some type of plan with this space. A decision on Takkari is yet to be made and if they do go ahead with a substantially increased cost will attract polarising opinion. It was also A liberal proposal, not his.
Or should he just rush into Marshal’s previous brain fart cooking school proposal instead?

if they're not going to return it to parklands as promised, it would make a good site for an erm, childrens hospital...or police barracks...

Good to see the site being used, but hopefully it becomes a high-density residential development in future.

The Myer Centre's transformation from '90s to 'generic grey box' is well underway.
Personally, whilst the '90s building wasn't that great, I think what they're doing is hideous. It looks like something out of Blade Runner, Nineteen Eighty-Four or V for Vendetta.

I wouldn't say that, but it's certainly not an improvement. It imposes itself on the streetscape rather than enhancing it. At least the original centre had character.

I'm still intrigued as to what they have planned for the clock tower...

The clock tower is far too distinctive and old-fashioned to keep. They'll surely get rid of it and replace it with a generic box.

That photo just goes to show that architecture has gone backwards. Look at the elegance of the Beehive Building and then just a big poo smear of grey behind it.

Out of curiosity, the price tag of the Myer Centre was $1b at the time of construction. How ambitious might the owners be in terms of bulldozing the Rundle Mall frontage all together bringing the retail component within two/three floors and having residential/commercial space in the floors above? I don't see the floor places harmoniously allowing for this.

Had a look at this the other day and it’s an awkward one. It looks like there’s more building up there to clad with windows and maybe even outdoor decks?Llessur2002 wrote:I'm still intrigued as to what they have planned for the clock tower...
