Nando's has closed on Hindley Street.

Sushi Hub is opening a second mall shopfront where the convenience store used to be next to Charlesworth Nuts.

Melbourne skate shop Fast Times has opened on Gawler Place (south).
Dang! That means there's no CBD presence for Nando's now right?

Yes, which is very disappointing. I thought they were usually quite busy!

It might be the wrong thread to ask this but does anyone know what used to be underneath the Rundle Arcade (parc arcade). There used to be escalators down next to Adelaide Exchange Jewelers on the Stephens Place side however they were boarded up many years ago. I have had no luck finding any information about it.
It used to be a cinema.

From about 1980 until it was closed it was called Hoyts Mid City, but before that I think it was called Hoyts Cinema 3

I have a vague recollection that To Be Or Not To Be was one of the last movies shown there which would make it around mid to late 84 or early 1985 that it would have closed.

I am pretty sure that either Spotlight or Lindcraft (or a type of store like that) was down there during the late 80s early 90s and there was just white boarding across where the cinema used to be.

There's rumours that the cinema is still there today and hasn't been touched since it closed, but I don't think it's ever been confirmed.

Speaking of lost underground spaces, did anything interesting use to be in the basement of Station Arcade?

When it opened it was a Food Court with a variety of eateries and I vaguely recall it had a subway/train theme. Even a clock that had a diesel train make a noise at certain intervals if my memory serves me correctly!

Anyone got on any tips on new tenants for City Cross? They've been doing seemingly substantial internal works in the tenancy next to the Rebel escalator.

Read recently that City Cross and North Adelaide Village have been sold to two interstate retail firms so hopefully that means we see more from there two sites. North Adelaide Village actually has planning concessions for mixed use development.

Would love to see the food court more enclosed, its bit exposed to the elements, bit drafty in winter and prone to birds flying in.

In need of an upgrade I'd say. Stuck in the mid 2000s.

Dymocks on Rundle Mall is going to be replaced with a multi-level Rebel Sport. Dymocks are looking for a new CBD location.
Rundle Mall's biggest bookstore will close its doors at its current location for the last time on Friday, to be replaced with a new Rebel Sport “megastore”. The new sports store will stretch over three levels and will be the retailer's first “highly immersive” new format concept outlet in Adelaide.

That will likely mean the Rebel Sport stores in the Myer Centre and City Cross will be closing down. The City Cross store covers a huge footprint and could be ideal for Uniqlo or JD Sports. Could also be a good opportunity to redevelop City Cross which is looking tired.

There have been extensive internal works in the vacant shop next to the Rebel escalator in City Cross. No indication yet who might be taking it up, but IMO to attract an anchor tenant City Cross should be merging the Mall shop fronts and upstairs space.

Can't see anyone wanting the space in the Myer Centre though. Cheap as Chips?
