^^ Thanks for the pics. Reading the posts on that forum was painful though, I shouldn't have gone there.

Took a detour down War Memorial drive on my way out of the City yesterday afternoon, they were testing the screens on the outside of the Southern Stand. was driving..no pictures sorry:(
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

They've been working for nearly 2 weeks .... I've seen them from my office window on 1 King William St.

They are huge and really clear - I was watching one from the deck at the Intercontinental the other day. Bring on the Ashes.

That may overtake watching the cricket from the Village Green on No. 2 Oval as 2nd-best cricket viewing option now! :P

Adelaide Oval as of half an hour ago from a friend landing in A-town.

It's huge.

Looks nothing like a toilet seat. Looks more like a big hug.

channel 7 news just tried to make a story out of a non issue. after their supposed sensational scoop about the undulating surface last week, it seems they had to report the surface was ok but will be in for a test over the next few weeks. they sounded almost dissappointed they could not report a monumental failure. remembering the disasters of the ethiad stadim surface falling appart when it first opened, i think it is miraculous they got this up in the timeframe given. A big well done so far. :applause:

A few more details about the state of the surface...
Adelaide Oval surface will stand the test of time, says curator Damian Hough

RESPECTED curator Damian Hough believes his Adelaide Oval surface will stand the test of time despite ongoing sensitivity over the state of the Ashes arena.

continues...
It's = it is; its = everything else.
You're = you are; your = belongs to.
Than = comparative ("bigger than"); then = next.

I've got to say (and i've been down to see the site in the flesh when there were still dozers on the ground), now that the playing surface has been re-turfed and the whole area is not one big gray blotch, the contrast between the green grass and the stands makes the gaps between each stand appear much larger than before. The three stands really do look like separate entities now. I know this was the plan from the beginning, but it's just my observation.

Don't the new stands look imposing! But the existing western stand looks dated, and it's only a couple of years old.
