When you think about it, the Post Office building (and the city block around it City Central etc) or the Sir Samuel Way building would have better suited the casino far better than the Railway Station, more land around either building to do stuff with and the buildings wouldn't require excessive reconfiguration like the Railway Station has with the casino taking up residency there...rhino wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 1:43 pmI hope it remains beautiful. It's sad to see how the railway station has changed over the years.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 6:37 pmThe plans lodge to DAC explained a lot of this, I can't remember exactly but I think that these areas will be function spaces which will be good. Grand ol' style ball rooms.

An absolutely fantastic collection of photos Andy, thanks so much!

The best thing about this building and the forthcoming Westin is that, even though they're not great buildings, they help to block out a collection of worse buildings in the view from Vic Square. Especially City Central Tower 2 (or Ernst & Young building - EY is surely the worst rebrand ever).

Yeah, the EY signage on that building just looks plain weird..... like they're the last 2 letters of a word on a broken sign, the rest of it missingSRW wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:22 pmThe best thing about this building and the forthcoming Westin is that, even though they're not great buildings, they help to block out a collection of worse buildings in the view from Vic Square. Heya, pardon me for asking but has anyone of you hear heard anything with regards to a tender for Westin? I mean, I believe the proposal already received planning approval from the State. Can't seem to find an advertisement via SA Tenders. Hoping someone could help a fellow out

18/8/2019, the glazing for levels 1-4 is nearly complete . Level 5 is set back then the upper level windows start on level 6. Click on picture for bigger.

I wish they would finish the Victoria Square masterplan.

Congratulations to the developer on successfully delivering on the project goal of creating a replica of a bland 80's generic office building.

The photo also makes me think if they ever will fulfil the plans to complete Victoria Square .... I am surprised it has been forgotten about with no council or other stakeholder discussion for many years.
[COM] Re: GPO Exchange | 85m | 22 Levels | Office
The last council disavowed it, and then committed too much outlay on 88 O'Connell and the Gawler Place upgrade to afford it anyway. It's seemingly equally unpopular with the current conservative-dominated council. We'll probably see yet another upgrade of Rundle Mall before Victoria Square is finally brought up to the standard you'd expect for the heart of a capital city. Another masterplan bites the dust; the road is paved with good intentions; etc etchow good is he wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 12:10 pmThe photo also makes me think if they ever will fulfil the plans to complete Victoria Square .... Also agree that completing the Victoria Square masterplan should have been a priority for the council, as with the riverbank masterplan (Hackney to Bowden) for the state government. Both seem to have given up on making any progress.
