[CAN] Re: #Approved: Cnr Gouger St & West Tce - 8 lvls
West Tce really needs some better buildings to express the boundaries of the CBD and provide an entrance to the city.
I hope that this one goes ahead. There are 2-3 of the 6-8 level building proposals for West Tce and this structure would be a good start.

Any news on a start date for this much needed project?Howie wrote:Just a headsup from Paul Pruszinski, Buildtec are looking at starting in Feb!
This is a sharper good quality render from Colliers site (Now leasing)
Does anyone know whether the new 4 storey CMI development will abut this building?
[CAN] Re: #Approved: Cnr Gouger St & West Tce - 8 lvls
This was the last we heard but I belive it's been delayed by several months so maybe cranes up by September? Assuming a demolition application is lodged within the next few weeks.Howie wrote:Yes.. paul reports that gouger/west tce will most likely have cranes up by june.

I do like that building. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but it's certainly appealing.
I think that's further south, on the site of the recently-vacated Lexus dealership (between Wright and Sturt streets) rather than the Toyota dealership next door to this project. I'd hazard a guess that Lexus of Adelaide's move to Parkside will be permanent; CMI's new car sales will move into the new building, and the used-car sales office will remain where it is.wilkiebarkid wrote:

Probably because it is well articulated and the facades are broken down to human scale elements. The western facade is broken up in random patterns to avoid a mass repetitive element. The building has a defined entry and corner.Omicron wrote:I do like that building. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but it's certainly appealing.

Pruszinski and Buildtec have come up with something different. Good on them.urban wrote:Probably because it is well articulated and the facades are broken down to human scale elements. I noticed that also, add 100pixels to the width and it starts to look like the right aspect ratio. Don't know if it was done on purpose to make it look taller or just someone who doesn't know what they are doing with graphics.crawf wrote:Nice render, but its obviously been stretched out.

Check out Will's post on page 2 to see the right aspect. The image needs colour correction (an Auto Level). Those of you who have Photoshop or similar can do it.monotonehell wrote:I noticed that also, add 100pixels to the width and it starts to look like the right aspect ratio. Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Thanks for the photos Norm.
We've heard February, June and then September -- any idea now when this might get started? Maybe the delay is due to Liquorland lessee?

Spoke to the developer a couple of weeks ago and asked how things were going. It looks like they will most probably scale this project down. The reason? Market forces. When will it be built? Hopefully during 2009. Sorry for the negative news.
Cheers

On my return home from eating yum cha in the city today I noticed that the Liquorland has finally closed. Hopefully it is a sign that something will happen soon, as that corner is an embarassment for the city. However the news that this project may be scaled down are dissapointing because it wasn't big to begin with.
[CAN] Re: #APP: Police Credit Union | 29m | 8lvls | Office
Seems this is dead. The liquorland store and adjacent area have been turned into a garden statue store.
