We were advised that the office lights are on sensors, so will switch themselves off to save energy when unoccupied. The lifts appear to be that modern 'dispatch' system where you request a lift, and the keypad tells you which one to use. If I'm not wrong, that means you may wait longer for a lift, but it will take you more directly to your requested floor.
Destination control lift systems. They assign people travelling to the same floor to the same lift. Wait times can be a bit longer, but less time is spent in lifts and overall less energy is consumed by the lift system.

It makes good sense, especially with these giant floors that will likely accommodate 100-300 people every business day. There is a commercial real estate listing for a cafe opportunity saying that about 3,500 people will work in the building. That sounds about right if Services Australia is leasing most of the floors and is estimated to put 2,500 people there.

I didn't take a photo because it wasn't visually spectacular, but I was quite impressed by the huge number of bike racks on the ground floor. It appeared to be at least a hundred. Then I saw some real estate page saying it's 350 - enough for a tenth of the workforce to cycle in.

Our division has moved in and everyone's pleased. The views are pretty cool, and I guess these exact angles were never seen before the building was built:

I note that they've restored the slate footpath in front of this without tree pits. I'm pretty sure the 'make good' condition of the development approval included both the footpath as well as replacing the two mature trees they cut down.

Trust a developer to quietly forget about such niceties ...

Why think ahead when council can just burn money in 6-12 months time cutting out the tree pits that should already be there?

Can you buy plane trees that are already semi-mature? They get a bad rap because of allergies but I like them personally and think they'll look good in front of this building.

From memory there was one Plane tree, closer to the southern boundary of the site? Perhaps once the neighbouring redevelopment is complete the street planting will occur.

My mistake, you’re correct, there was only one along this stretch. I forgot that the verandah of the old Southern Cross extended right to the kerb preventing any tree planting in its berth.

Now that the new building’s shelter encroachment is only 3 meters, there’s a fantastic opportunity to replenish and extend the plane tree avenue.

Any word on who has the naming rights for this building? The brackets are there but nothing has gone up yet.
