Drove past this one on Sunday morning, fire brigade at the front and smoke coming out of the boarded up windows towards the top. Surprised it didn't make the news?

Second Sunday morning in a row, fire brigade and smoke! Is this what they call a controlled burn? Lol (Smoke had cleared by time I found a park)

Ive always wondered how many squatters would camp overnight in this building. Quite a few I guess

I see the fire brigade so frequently out the front there I assumed they were using it for training. Squatter mishaps is the more likely scenario, though.

I was walking along North Terrace this morning when the fire brigade was there. It was just a training exercise, they had a small sign saying so placed on the footpath..

According to Indaily. Maintenece work is about to start on the facade. The redevelopment has been put on hold due to lack of interest in office accomodation at this point in time.

The developers have asked for another extension - the 8th I believe 10 years after the initial approval.

The SCAP has been recommended to reject the extension. Surely if you haven't built it within 10 years its not going to happen and you can't keep expecting extensions so I agree with this. If the developer thinks they can keep extending it there is no incentive to start work before it lapses.

Are Adelaide Development Company the ones who sat on the old Planet site for 15 years too? Disgraceful, wish someone serious would buy this site and actually do something with it - even if it was just restoring the original building at this point.

Yep sure is. Notorious for this sort of thing.

It should be refused, though we shouldn't assume that means they'll offload the property. It will likely languish longer.

I'd like the government to proactively relieve the developer of the building and restore it, potentially as new headquarters/museum for History Trust SA (which is presently homeless).

This kind of thing really irks me - either build it, or don't.
