Although I'm all for as much construction in Adelaide as possible, I'd be super p1ssed about this one if I was based in the Optus building.

All the years Optus has stood there on its own, with half a city practically vacant around it, and now they build this to the same height and within spitting distance. Hope people with a view to the north are getting their office transfers worked out.

Speaking from experiencing All State Demolition first hand, this company seems to have a very 'gung-ho' mentality about demolition. They tear everything down then sort into piles for recycling.
Oh and it seems that it must be cheaper to fix damaged neighboring buildings rather than do a decent job.

Just curious, has this development actually been approved? If not, why are they already clearing the site?

As far as I'm aware, it has not been approved yet. It's not uncommon for developers to clear the site before approval is granted if the structure has little economic value. Sometimes they'll sit on the site for ages, and may even use it as a car park in the interim to generate a bit of cash flow.

Well, I actually got the site first in another shot, but it wasn't a good shot, so I used this one instead.

At the coming ACC DAP meeting next Monday, this development is expected to receive planning APPROVAL. Although the building, has a height 20m, above that prescribed for the locality, it is deemed to be of such a high standard, that the recommendation is for it to be approved.

A rather distinctive building - it shall do wonders for the area. Are those angled protrusions on the eastern elevation to be glass, or some kind of solid material?

I also note Mr. Howie's R34 with a new paint-job parked on the footpath. May I suggest the road in future?

What can I say of the new renders - excellent. :D The bulking up of KWS Sth. long overdue but now fantastic. Design looks good.

I am a stickler for cantilever awnings to make buildings more user friendly externally.(concerning the weather). The Brecknock has such awnings. Can anyone see any evidence of such? Many more people will be in the area.

A good point, especially if the aim is to raise foot-traffic in an area that does not currently see high levels of such. Looking at the renders, I'd say there may be a few small sections that poke out over some of the footpath (visible in the 2nd render down), but not offering much shelter to any large extent. The presence of umbrellas over the outdoor tables seems to support this.
