Maybe when the two buildings are finished the residents could blow kisses to each other (or if you had noisy neighbours have stereo "loudness" contests across the laneway)

The building steps back quite a bit above the podium/rec level, so the opposite apartments won't be so close.

From my view of this development it appears that there's been another core rise too.

quick question, when taking the crane down, how do they get the tower out of the slabs? do they leave enough height on the first floor to remove it section by section from the bottom? Also what is going to fill the holes when then the time comes?

They'll remove as much of the crane as the can once they've lowered it to the podium height (the tower crane won't be framed by the floor plates once the apartment levels commence.) From there the remaining section of the tower will be removed by a mobile crane, the floors will then be formed up and the gap filled.

You can see in this shot the apartment floors miss the tower crane.

The concrete slabs around the void for the tower crane would incorporate ferrules at the interface with the void, which would allow the reinforcing bars for the infill slab sections to be continuous with those of the rest of the slab.

At very least, the facade seems like it won't be horrendous.

I dunno if it's just been the lighting or time of day that I've walked past but it doesn't look that great in person - material looks very cheap. I'll wait until a few more levels get done up before I come to a proper conclusion.

There could also be a temporary protective coating on the facade too. It's a common practice to prevent damage.
