According to Travel News Asia this site will be a Ramada Hotel by Wyndham.
The Ramada by Wyndham Kings Head in Adelaide will be built on the site of the former Kings Head hotel, one of the oldest historic pubs in Australia which was established in 1848. The hotel is slated to open by end of 2024.

Sadly, no mention of the proposed Wyndham Grand despite listing their other South Australian endeavours. Perhaps the deal has lapsed, and we're stuck with that rotting corner of KWS for longer.

Last year, Wyndham’s Vice President and Head of Development – SEAPR, Matt Holmes said this about the Wyndham Grand Adelaide:
“It’s a big box 353-key on 75 King William Street – that will be our flagship hotel not just in South Australia but in the South Pacific region,” Holmes said.

“That’s a really exciting property that’s just going through its final processes at the moment, and hopefully will start construction next year. It’s a long build so we’re looking at a 2026 opening, but it will be a nice one.”

Given those comments, I'm holding out hope that it's not dead yet. Hopefully our recent spate of record hotel occupancy rates further encourages them to invest here.

Why would something like the Wyndham Grand have stalled? If the developer has secured a tenant for the hotel (Wyndham), then why would there be an issue getting finance or generally getting the development off the ground? It is not like an apartment project, where pre-sales would be required. Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

Regarding the King's Head, it looks like things are moving ahead - King's Head seems to be closed now- there are signs up in the windows saying closed for redevelopment, reopening 2025.

This could well be the new high-water mark for average looking new buildings in our CBD

Green something I think. I haven’t heard of them. Not one of the main ones anyway.

Apologies for the bump but looking at these renders I get the impression that the old stone walls are being incorporated into the final design ?
