It was just an application to demolish. No plans to construct yet. There were problems with squatters vandalizing and setting fire to the buildings.

I remember the cottage fire which was in the news a few months ago where they said that the two cottages had to be demolished. There was no talk of the lodge being demolished though so I’m quite happy about that. Hated that building for years.

Image

Demolition has started at the Former Linsell Lodge.

I got told off by one of the workers there for filming. I was actually on a video call to a friend showing them the work. Even if I was filming, it’s a public space right?

Someone should tell these workers then. So tempted to print that out and hand it to them in person.

I've had the same thing happen to me whilst taking pictures of a building site for this forum - I guess at the end of the day I can appreciate why having a picture or video taken of yourself in your workplace might be annoying but you're perfectly within your rights to do so.

I also feel that if developers and contractors felt so strongly about photography then they'd make a bit more of an effort with hoarding.

Exactly. People are just ignorant of the law unfortunately.

I guess it's about context too - taking a video from across the street is a bit different to being pushed up against the fencing taking close-up shots. I can't see any problem with the latter, the former I probably wouldn't do - despite being legal.

I was actually going to say that in my previous post lol

Its not like we are right there at the fence with our phones pressed against it.

Might even be that something they are doing isn't within the WHS requirements and obviously wouldn't want that documented.
Doing things outside of WHS and what they are allowed to do isn't exactly uncommon with demolition companies.

Haha wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

I have had both good and bad experiences with site workers. On the plus side on at least 2 occasions I have given my mobile to a worker who took a picture from within the site. Some sites are extremely difficult to get a decent picture like the site at 45-51 Franklin St.

Anyone know what's going on the with the Telstra Exchnage building on Waymouth Street? Gantries have gone up around the building and half the carpark adjacent to it has been closed off.
