Sometimes the sky city building looks awful - but when the lighting is right, it really looks pretty good.

Sometimes I think that part of the convention Centre should have been painted white to match the festival theatre. but then the other 2 buildings of the convention Centre are chuck brown.

If they reglazed the apricot cement monstrosity the same glazing as trumps stunted chode, it’d bring the area together nicely

Yeah, great - then you could have two gaudy buildings that look straight out of early 90s Vegas, lovely.

Hard disagree and anything would look better than the 80s Gold Coast monstrosity we have now

Hell, even just a decent pressure clean to the top of the InterContinental wouldn't go astray, the dark grit that's forming a crown at the top of that building looks terrible.

Also, the Western side of the Convention Centre is definitely going to require a record in the near future. Most of it has faded drastically from it's original colour, and not in an intended way.

Out of all the buildings in that area, the Intercontinental is the only building in my opinion that has aged the best. If its re-clad or repainted, it will only age quicker and require more maintenance. A good clean is all it needs but I do fear with its upcoming refurbishment that it will be turned into a turd through some awful paint or cladding. Just look at the mess that the former AMP building is left in now. There is no redeeming the damage done to that former elegant 60's highrise.

I guess everyone has different tastes, but I see it as something of "old" Adelaide standing in the midst of "new" Adelaide. Not in a good way.
That typical beige/sandstone looking building that dominates the skyline from so many angles still.
It's a monstrosity, the roof is a disaster.
Then there's the Intercontinental sign, in white, with a large black background, on exposed concrete.

This, the Riverside Centre, and the carpark facade there should be the next focus for the so called "river bank redevelopment".

This. Aside from a clean the only work that needs doing is removing the square background behind the logo (completely unnecessary), and better resolving the ground level on both sides to better connect to North Tce and the riverbank.

Completely agree - it's grown on me massively over the years and now ranks firmly in my favourite Adelaide buildings. It's screaming out to be better connected to the riverbank, fingers crossed this will be achieved sometime soon.

It’s an eyesore and needs an epic facelift.

Only thing that didn't age well on the continental was painting the top of the lift shafts/plant. The design has aged well. It's not exactly timeless, but it keeps up. But that grey paint replacing the materiality of the concrete, and in such a patchy way... looks like absolute shit.
