Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD
This is pretty fair and reasonable. Filling a TOD with dumped parked cars isn't. I'd like to see some dedicated truck loading bays dotted around for delivery vans and removalists. At the moment, removalists in the area are generally awful — often parking on clear yellow lines and across garage door...

"First Nations Cultures" is a Canadian term. It has no relevance to Australian aborigines. https://www.stylemanual.gov.au/accessible-and-inclusive-content/inclusive-language/aboriginal-and-torres-strait-islander-peoples#naming_protocols_are_complicated_specificity_is_often_more_respectful

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD
'No cars' is possible. It's one of the most centralised, accessible locations of Adelaide: train, tram, bus, cycling and pedestrian connections exist. People only travel there via car because it is an option. This option can be restricted to force behaviours to adapt, or else it will become cultura...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m
I'm not saying a shitty, narrow, dark underpass like in other areas. Something pedestrian friendly, wide. Open cut all the way up the the street so the only covered part is directly under the road. I agree it's a pedestrian area, but that doesn't mean they MUST be at surface level if it can improve...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m
I actually think the tram is essential to traffic calming on Jetty Road. It's a benefit not a detriment that it runs at grade. Yes, agreed. I also think they need to reconsider the amount of on-street car parking on Jetty Rd, especially on the western end past Gordan and Partridge Streets. The stre...

I maintain that the taper needs to more prominent so that it's obvious in silhouette. Far too subtle in the current design. Is the increase in prominence in silhouette worth all the floor space that would be lost? Yes. Otherwise, why not have every building be just the max floor plate extruded up?

Plus there's a multi-storey car park 300m away, that's mostly empty unless there's something on at the Entertainment Centre. But my god, so many residents are obsessed with parking. Always complaining about there not being enough, when the only reason the streets are full is because they're permanen...

By 'available now', this gives the impression that you have provided a link to enable it to be viewed. This is not the case. If you want to control/limit the distribution, then say so. Otherwise I cannot figure out a valid reason to require a PM to be sent in order to access it. Could have sent a P...

Here's another view. IMG_3683.JPG I agree that architects can have loftier aims with social housing, but (materials notwithstanding) there's nothing wrong with this in form. There are dozens of similar blocks across the city, and at least this one is a public good. Agreed, what's more important is ...

It's community and affordable housing... it's not luxury apartments. The design principle is literally to provide a roof over people's heads. Doesn't mean that there's not an opportunity for good design. Sure, don't expect lavish fittings and fancy cladding, but there housing like this should be a ...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD
I know it's a long shot, but is there anyone local to Bowden that could take some happy snaps for me. Our build is part of the 5 Drayton Street development that has stalled for the better part of 7 months. I'm not getting any correspondence from the builder either having tried multiple times :? As ...

The above picture is definitely that of the intersection of Rundle and Gawler Place, where the fountain was until 1995. The camera looks east - you can see John Martin’s (now DJ’s) and on the right Regent Arcade. Probably taken winter 1977 judging by the green looking hills and the mall’s young tre...
