[COM] Re: 152-160 Grote Street | 58m | 19 lvls | Mixed Use
Having moved to Auckland a few years ago, bit out of loop on Adelaide projects, but was impressed to see this one rise so quickly over the past 12 - 18 months. However this is such a fat bulky building. Very dominant, and I think they could have done a far better job of visually breaking it up to ap...

Visual Development Data
Having worked in Local Government for a while now, I have realised how blessed we are to have such great access to localised development data. A lot of this data is available online, through development registers, and it will be compulsory for this to all be online from January 1 for each Council fr...

There is no doctrine of planning precedent.
My professional opinion (being restricted as I do not have any skills in heritage matters) is that the design is not consistent.

Could be well placed elsewhere, but not there. The facade and design of the courts, in contrast to this 'vision' is poor and is not cohesive with the desired character of the locality. I am disappointed that so many of my fellow Adelaidians would intellectually whore themselves out to such a design ...

Mr argument is that 'mall' shopping has been dead for a few years now. Most major Westfield projects around the world of late have been either minor or major projects in inner city areas.

Just informing people that this hasn't been abandoned completely. They've applied for another 12 month extension of their development plan consent.

Re: General Suburban Projects & Discussion
http://www.97grange.com.au 10 new townhouses on Grange Rd. Decent public transport access, close to the city. I'm a big fan of these medium-density development. They might not be high-rise but they do concentrate population centric to services which in turn encourages retail growth in some areas. C...

Re: Mawson Lakes - Not just another suburb
Oh, and next to the nine level render on the previous page, an application was lodged with the Salisbury Council last month for (5-11 Metro Parade) for a building with two ground floor office tenancies and ten apartments / townhouses.

Re: Mawson Lakes - Not just another suburb
97 Elder Drive, Mawson Lakes - 7 x two-storey townhouses - currently on Cat 2 public notification. It's evident that the blocks will fill up a bit slower given the state of the economy but I definitely think that once fully completed down the track, more work might (hopefully) be done to the train s...

Re: New Retail in the CBD
I know it isn't exactly the CBD, I thought it is close enough.
Currently an application in for a Funk Coffee outlet on 45 Greenhill Rd (Unley Council).
They seem to like co-locating with office sites. Not that I have an issue with this, any shops mixed with offices adds a bit of life.

I think it is a chicken and the egg argument. What comes first? The business or the apartment? City residents need to be aware that they will be living near retail, clubs, bands etc. For most, it is the reason why you would live in the city to begin with. And as said, with height increases, you can ...

I am curious guys, without knowing the full history of the centre: When was the second deck of car-parking closed? I did not read through all of Hassel's Supporting Documentation, but I am not sure whether the second deck is going to reopen. It seems to be an excessive amount of car-parking for a Di...

I think we are definitely going to see a lot more CBD investment. I am hoping that the Government follows a similar approach along transit corridors (i.e. part of the structure plans). However, we need to remember what makes Adelaide great, and it's not skyscrapers. Good design and strong community ...

[COM] Re: South Road Upgrade
The truth is, things just should've been done a long time ago. If the government didn't sell of the MATS corridors, we'd all be laughing and this thread wouldn't exist. We'd all be arguing over why the north-south freeway only has three lanes in either direction, when it should be four. Then there i...

What do you think they'll build in the development; surely the leaser has to have some guarantee of some large company moving in.
