Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

Am I missing someting here?
Seems to me that the New Port Quays vs Old Port Adelaide debate is now a petty diversion when compared to the long standing and until recently ignored industrial pollution issues currently facing the Port Adelaide area.
Did anyone attend the public meeting a few weeks ago ...

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

Hi Stumpjumper,
I hardly think that one lunch at Portobello (which by the way cooks a great meal) and a chat with a few residents gives you an unbiased insight.
I also miss the old boat yards but understand the reasons for it's removal.
You need to spend more time there. I am there 2-3 days per week ...

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

I don't live at New Port Quays but I do spend a lot of time down around stage 2 on land and water and love the atmosphere, views and most of all the ability to get up close to oberve the dolphins who visit and perform every day. Yes, there are a few remaining issues as with all new developments, but ...

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

Thankyou Stumpjumper
Based on the info provided your last blog,
You view the rental hike for another boatyard location as greed and captialism. I view it as commercial reality.
You view the low rental at Seales boat yards as their right, I view the low rental as a tax payer subsidised space that ...

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

Hi Stumpjumper,
Marina Adelaide has most probably been appionted by one or more individual owners of berths to lease the them.
In my opinion, this would have been purely a commercial arrangement made on an individual basis with the owners.
In relation to Searles, LMC's decision was most probably ...

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

Hi Stumpjumper,
Re Marina Adelaide- just one phone call to Urban construct will reveal who manages the existing marinas at New Port Keys.
Re the boatyards- Like you, I loved the vision and aesthetic of the old boat yards. Some of my wifes best photographs taken in Port Adelaide are of the old ...

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

Miss-information is unproductive
1/ Marina Adelaide is not managing the Newport Quays Marinas. Any decision on who manages is a matter for the owners and body corporate group.
2/ I find it very hard to believe stumpjumpers comments about the Jenkins Street shipbuilders. I do not know of any business ...
