Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
How about a dynamic height requirement - no more than 20% taller or shorter than your immediate neighbours? That would allow growth while keeping consistency within an area and produce a gradation from the low-rise areas to the high-rise areas of the city.

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling
Very happy to see the Northern Connector bike path connected to Port Adelaide. :applause: In the map in the article the bike path clearly crosses the Northern Connector and Salisbury Highway at the southern end. Is there any indication whether these crossings will be built as underpass or overpass?

Have you tried to contact the project team about it? A year ago I did and got the reply: The design for the Shared Use Path has not yet been finalised – the drawings noted below are from the reference design that is currently being further developed. Further information regarding the path will be u...

[COM] Re: Northern Connector | 14km | $1b
I'm still waiting to see a detailed map of how the shared cycling pedestrian pathway will cross over or under the junction with Salisbury Hwy and Port River Expressway, to connect between South Road and the path that follows the Northern Connector. At some point in the future I hope there is also an...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling Infrastructure
On Twitter, Modacity wrote: Vancouver’s Union Street. Fun fact: one local restauranteur opposed this project in 2013, claiming it would “cut him off at the knees”. Twelve months later, he was on the record stating business was better than ever, largely in part to an increase in tourists riding bike...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling Infrastructure
They should connect the Dry Creek linear park between the east and west sides with a new underpass under the railway lines, this can connect to the south side of the railway station, rather than going over the Elder Smith Rd bridge.

The new bridge has an interesting look from underneath. When the Grange and Outer Harbor trains start running again on 24 January 2017 are they going to be on this new bridge or on a temporary diversion track with a level crossing?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Surely the flight attendants and pilots arriving on a monday evening wouldn't stay in Adelaide until Friday. So they must go back to Fiji via Melbourne or Sydney ? I read the information as if both flights operate on Friday and both again on Monday. In that case the crew arriving in Adelaide at 8:3...

[VIS] Re: Flinders Skyway | $13m
Is there a chance the track could bend? This system has great difficulty going around bends, because the thin rails need extremely high tension steel wires inside. You have to essentially divide the run into a few long straight segments, with tensioning equipment at the ends of each segment. ...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
“We had seen a group of bikes in the left lane and I was a bit worried about them because a four-wheel drive had to come into our lane onto oncoming traffic at 100km/h to get around them, that’s how far out on the road they were ,” she said. These are the sort of arrogant selfish rude inconsiderate...

Re: News & Discussion: MetroCard System
Personally, I use busses very rarely, and I don't have a Metro card yet, but this is simply due to the $5 to pay for the card where paper tickets are free. If you're still buying regular single trips, you're paying $1.71 extra for each paper ticket. If you bought a Metrocard you would be ahead by t...

Re: #U/C: St. Clair (Woodville/Cheltenham) - $500m
See how NearMap already has the new streets in the St Clair development. That's coming from OpenStreetMap, a crowd-sourced open data mapping project which anyone can edit. I was the volunteer who collected the names of the streets on my bicycle and traced the streets from the NearMap image into Open...
