If they reconnected the Gawler Line to the Port Flat line at Dry Creek, they should at least trial passengers trains between Gawler and Osborne, a temporary platform at Wingfield (in vicinity of Hanson Road, Gillman and Osborne

Short term a new bus route , lets say 409 run from Settlers Farm to Modbury via Kings Road and McIntyre Road. Long term make it light rail or Tway style busway.

If I recall the former Smiths car yard is still vacant if Coles want that. Even a Coles Local might work by the soon to open Port Dock Station

New sign is going up on the Salisbury East site. Old coles express sign is down by Clovercrest. Did Salisbury East have a roadhouse at one stage , I know the Smithfield East one did.

In theory a trial could be done asap.
Trial a train service from Mt Lofty Station to Goodwood or temporary platform at Mile End. If at Mile End it could be timed to connect with a metro service or bus shuttle from Mile End to City.

The photo in the article shows an Adelaide Metro railcar, but no where has anyone said that's what struck him. There's also the ARTC track there and goods trains take a lot longer to stop. There is no chance of the DIT getting the contract back, unless all the CNGs buses are retired. This may not have been the main reason behind privatisation in the first place.
