Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Generally that's a sign that those that have fallen over have been managed poorly. Perhaps the other way around, the shoddy builders are surviving because they're taking shortcuts. I know a few tradies in the building industry that have lost their jobs recently because their work was of too high qu...

Seems Mansions are still persuing Maxcon, I'm not an Advertiser subscriber but saw this article online today. I'm guessing this is following on from their earlier complaints around the construction and its impact on their quality hotel offering: https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/city/realm-ad...

I had a feeling this would be the case. It's such a shame because it's such a lovely old building in the best of locations.
Might need to send in Gordon Ramsay.

Probably a stupid question but is it standard practice to make such variations to the facade post approval, usually during construction? Lurking here it's something I'm seeing quite often, the approved building is usually quite different to the final product. Is it an attempt to improve chances of b...

[COM] Re: GPO Exchange | 85m | 22 Levels | Office

I guess the main reason for this might comedown to demand, or lack thereof. Adelaide's office market take-up is quite slow, so I guess rents are generally lower than the larger cities. Buildings here prolly have to be built for function rather than design. If developers knew potential tenants were ...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

Looks pretty ugly to me, Adelaide finally gets something nice (Adelaide Oval upgrade) then they wrap it with a rather gross building so no-one can see it. Occupancy should be ok during the AFL season and T20/one day/test matches, I'd imagine a decent amount of visitors would stay from Friday to Sund...

They're moving rail signalling control terminations to the new building under construction on the Northern side of the rail yard as you enter the Adelaide station (via rail), the existing rail control building can then be demolished for construction of SAHMRI 2

Wasn't the height of the Bendigo Bank building reduced due to its visibility from Rundle Mall?

2KW has some good views, and oddly enough I find the southern stand bar at the Adelaide Oval to have some of the best CBD views. Every time I'm around the Adelaide riverbank I can't help but feel disappointed, it could be so much more but it's completely wasted. I haven't followed the plaza redevelo...

It looks like average and boring, nothing more than a box, no architectural interest to me what-so-ever. If there's the money to build something like Vue on South Tce surely there's the money and interest to build a landmark building here in the heart of the city. 21 levels of office? How about anot...

Walked by the site this morning, noticed most of the building is gone! Lots has been happening over the weekend. I'm in the building directly across the road so have a good view of the site and its being re-developed, tho I'm not sure if I can legally take photos and post them here. Interesting seei...
