Only thing that didn't age well on the continental was painting the top of the lift shafts/plant. The design has aged well. It's not exactly timeless, but it keeps up. But that grey paint replacing the materiality of the concrete, and in such a patchy way... looks like absolute shit.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
people can read the article and make up their own minds, however you dictated what that opinion would be with your original comment The point I saw was that high retail prices are because retailers have to build in a margin to cover "high price events" when the actual spot price jumps fro...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
A live tree sequesters carbon in 1. wood/roots and 2. soil. For carbon to be sequestered in soil requires further processes of breaking down fallen leaf matter, namely being consumed by funguses or other organisms. Fallen leaf matter otherwise emits carbon straight back into the atmosphere unless it...

The building that gets its view obliterated is the old and crusty Stamford Plaza which, sans view, has got 0 selling point.
No article with them bitching about it (although surely they'll fight it through the planning process).

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Stages 1A and 1B are the "boring" bits of the project for me. But at 400MW, the nameplate capacity is already 1/3 larger than the current largest wind farm!
I'm more excited for the next stages and champing at the bit for that 900MW/1800MWh battery. Absolute game changer.

Screenshot_2024-03-27-08-34-39-225_com.android.chrome-edit.jpg So anyway. Stage 1 under construction 400MW of wind). Final delivery of turbines on site by about September. Stage 2 is 600MW wind and 600MW solar. But the game changer is a battery delivering 900MWh for 2 hours at a time. Say whatever ...
