[PRO] Re: New Adelaide Aquatic Centre
I hate this proposal. The downscaling of the centre and the location make me wondering what kind of city planners the state government and ACC have working for them. This is the only rare instance where I believe we should be removing trees to ensure this is built at the end of O’Connell Street and ...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
Part 27 is one of the most “natural” of all the parklands - about as bad a choice as Park 21 in that regard: https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/08/07/not-optimal-commissioners-frustration-over-police-horse-relocation/ I’m trying to understand why SAPOL have such strict requirements for the proximity ...

The Hilton needs more happening around it at street level, the entire Grote Street frontage is wasted by a service vehicle entry and a side entrance stairwell usually occupied by rough sleepers. Also their signage is incredibly dated and need replacement. Pretty much the same for InterContinental, t...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade
When Pelligra first purchased the site and there was talk of an upgrade, and the understanding was that despite any upgrades made it wouldn’t result in the 36ers playing games there again, but it would act as more of a community hub and training facility for the 36ers. As it is, the venue can’t host...

speaking of this road...the bridge over the railway line at Mile End is sagging in several areas looks like its about to fall down...hopefully it isn't, but it looks dilapidated Have noticed this when driving over it, I’m the bridge would easily be 50 years old? I’m not sure the cost would be but m...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
What rubberman said about 'good debt versus bad debt', as far as I'm concerned, any sort of investment in infrastructure (be it public transport, sporting, arts and cultural) is a good investment; even if we pay for it down the line. It's what makes a city liveable and entices the retention of exist...

Great move: https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/07/26/vacant-cbd-buildings-ripe-for-apartments/ This feels like a massive wasted opportunity by the City of Adelaide to look more broadly at buildings around the centre of Adelaide that may be potential conversions to residential, not just the above grou...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
The tanks were being pulled down this morning, there was a large demolition rig tipping them over and rolling them into a neat row on the ground. Only three or four still standing when I went past. Strange considering they were covered and seemingly protected whilst demolition went on around them?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
What's embarrassing is that in the time it's taken to deliver this project alone, the Melbourne Metro tunnel has pretty much been seen practical completion. It doesn't matter whose in government here, the delivery of these projects has historically been appalling. I'm all for electrifying Outer Harb...

A concert hall would be good, one is sorely needed . Coupled with a tram extension O'Connell's Street. Echo this, however I believe there are plans already in circulation for a concert hall on the site of the Adelaide Festival Centre function room, Marshall in conjunction with the ASO were working ...

[U/C] Re: 145-159 King William Street (GPO) | 61m | 16 Levels | Hotel
I'm arrogantly going to sit here and say that I (and a couple of others on this forum) told the naysayers so. Both with this and the neighbouring GPO Exchange/BHP building. Yes, they aren't spectacularly tall but the quality is there and ultimately THAT is what matters. Even if it's not been put for...
