[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Not to be too negative but feels like a serious amount of hype for a short neighbourhood road that for some reason costs 3 million

I think I remember a Utopia episode or two where the governement just needed to find some positive annoucements to show progress.

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling

Consultation has just opened for the next section of the Flinders Greenway between Tonsley and the Seaford Train Line / Marino Rocks Greenway. https://www.makingmarion.com.au/flinders-greenway-stage3 Really disappointing to see this turn into a mess of bike lanes and shared roads, rather than see th...

[PRO] Re: Westfield Marion (2019/20 Extension)

In regards to the development in this vicinity, can I suggest renaming some more shopping precincts after nearby suburbs? Just in order to continue the trend of inaccuracy. 'Marion' shopping centre is more suited to being named Sturt, or Oaklands. The actual suburb of Marion is at least a mile nort...

Re: Speeding up train services

Merge Emerson / Clarence Park Stations somewhere in between. If not for the practicality of combining two reasonably frequented stations into a singular improved station, then for the fact that the stoppage of trains at both East Ave and Cross Road make road traffic at these intersections all the m...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Ok I'm confused. Liberal proposal according to scope was way under estimate on cost and would have come in at $15 odd Billion instead of $9.5 Billion stated by the Libs....so Labor delay and do another study which confirms all of this, so Labor crow about finding the Libs under spend, but announce ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

For me it's a big improvement. Especially getting an extra entry and exit at James Congdon - multiple routes now for Northbound traffic to get to the city and much better airport access.

Re: Speeding up train services

The huge backlash to closing the old Tonsley station a few years ago is proof that closing stations can't be done easily and will need better reasoning behind it than saving a few minutes journey time. Most likely scenario for some changes is when they decided to do a grade separation or something a...

Re: News & Developments: Tonsley

Some of the play/street furniture and sculptures are nice, but why is the shared path greenway along the train line needlessly windy? For bike commuters it's an annoying hassle. It's why so many avoid the Westside Bikeway. Probably to maximise the number of existing trees that can be retained. I im...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m

Got to agree with Rev on this one. This fix is addressing congestion in one tiny area, and will only shift a bottleneck. Again, we are taking an isolated approach to planning by treating the symptom of the issue rather than taking a holistic and planned approach and addressing the root cause of con...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m

Similar to the South Road overpass, they probably will just run the tracks either side on-street running along Glengyle Terrace and remove the bikeway temporarily while the bridge gets built in between. The thing is to grade seperate Marion Road from Anzac Highway and Cross Road will require a seri...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m

Morphett Road isn't a priority. It would have made more sense to include removal of the Tram / Cross Road level crossing as well - kill four birds with one stone. If you're going to grade separate the tram from Cross and Marion, you're going to have to close the tram for a period of time. If you're...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m

The Advertiser is reporting that it will include grade seperating the tram line at both level crossings, but not grade seperating the road intersections. The Anzac Highway / Marion Road and Cross Road / Marion Road intersections will both get upgrades and extra lanes. My guess is the tram line will ...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Council's proposal to 'start small' with this makes perfect sense. It wouldn't be a fast journey using the existing lines, but with comfortable trains and things running efficiently it would be interesting to see the takeup. I'm sure it would take a few people off the roads. Even the public transpor...

A good piece by Cathy Cashen in todays Advertiser, who is the spokesperson for the South Road Inner West Action group https://www.facebook.com/groups/2362690160720817/ [if anyone can post it?]. Their position is for the tunnels to continue under the Torrens to join up with the existing Torrens to T...

Re: News & Developments: Tonsley

On the boilerhouse - few new details from a recent Marion Council meeting. There's a slightly realignment of property boundaries, hence why it's gone before the council. "The Boiler House is of historical interest within Tonsley and is situated on MAB Circuit and marked 335 on the attached Prel...
