In that .pdf linked to, why are there two 'Torrens Rd's in the map?
The road over the bridge continues as Torrens Rd. However the old Torrens Rd still services premises which have addresses on Torrens Rd. The concept of a service road adjoining a main road with the same name is not uncommon.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

When is the Ovingham project earmarked for completion? The station rebuild (as part of the network station upgrade program) is due for completion in late 2022. The level crossing removal project has timelines on the PTP Alliance website . The rail related components ie the removal of the level cros...

I think they might regret not having a longer slip lane for traffic going from Torrens Road turning left onto Chief Street.
How attractive is Chief St for through traffic compared with the Park Tce/Port Rd and Torrens Rd/South Rd alternatives?

at the moment it doesnt look like a second port adelaide bound lane could fit, let alone a bike lane on either side of the bridge as well :sly: Which bridge are you referring to? Ovingham or Elder Smith? The Ovingham project website has a map ( https://s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/ptpa-public-as...

at the moment its only 1 lane towards port adelaide over the bridge, will that become 2 lanes? Yes: https://ptpa-public-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/resized/generalimages/16818/Final-Design-Map-APPROVED_27cf853fd5d5b7078a6db602dec92006.jpg I think all traffic is using the northern carriageway at present...

[PRO] Re: Hahndorf Access Upgrade Project

this project seems to have died in the ass It's still on the DIT website at https://www.dit.sa.gov.au/infrastructure/road_projects/hahndorf_township_strategic_traffic_planning_study which I think is a new website since the election. Indeed. The DIT website was updated on 22nd March and indicates co...

I think this bridge had its lead paint removed and replaced with a new non-lead based paint - don't think it was strengthened though.
It was the bow arch bridge (on the now Gawler tracks) that was repainted in 2017 during the Torrens Jn works. The truss bridge wasn't included in these works.

Here's the article. Adelaide City Council to lobby for trackless tram to North Adelaide over new King William Road bridge ... Perth had conducted a trial in its CBD using the technology while another potential route in Adelaide was between the CBD and Adelaide Airport. As of Mar 2022 the intention ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

There's a few of those. There's 2 buffer points on the new Elizabeth turnback track which got used today as a train had to get passengers to disembark due to an electrical fault. There's 1 north of the Gawler Junction that heads towards the old roseworthy and Nuriootpa line. All of them have assist...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Few snaps of the Gawler Line Today What are the extra rails in the Gawler Central picture for? Looks like a set of check rails. Usually used at bridges and tunnels to prevent derailing. Looks like they were installed with the buffer in case of collision, they weren’t there before. I wonder whether ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Interesting that Adelaide Metro has gone for the same timetable as pre-electrification (other than not stopping at Ovingham), given that the electric trains could easily shave several minutes off the current timetable. The weekend timetable leaves a lot to be desired (all stops, every 30 minutes). ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Just out of pure curiosity. How many NEW electric trains are here? I know 4023 and 4024 have entered service. Is there a 4025-4034 sets or just 4023 and 4024 here at the moment of this post? It's been a while since I've seen any posts or anything about new trains 4025 and above for several months. ...

[U/C] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m

Images of the Ovingham train station have been released by the PTP Alliance. They are completely underwhelming considering this station has a budget of $10m! https://ptpa.com.au/projects/ovinghamcrossing#gallery-23-1 It has a glorified bus shelter and a bit of landscaping. For that budget, I would’...
