Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
^ Maybe so but I still don't like stuck behind freight trains when I'm trying to get to the station from the west side of the Gawler line.

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Stingiest budget imaginable yet if they built both sides of the expressway in one go they would have saved hundreds of millions of dollars. Stinginess and wastefulness often go hand in hand.

[COM] Re: M2 Northern Connector | 15.5km | $867m
Audio tactile line marking is a combination of line marking and raised profile thermoplastic 'bumps' that make a noise when driven over, providing additional visibilityand safety in low light and wet weather conditions. Why limit them to just making a noise? They could modulate the bumps so that yo...

[VIS] Re: Interstate Trains at Adelaide Railway Station
An opportunity exists to create an enclosed platform area along another part of the interstate route. That needn't necessarily be at Keswick, it could be further up closer to the hospital. That track goes all the way to the hospital before bending north and heading to Dry Creek. That area wouldn't ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Anecdotally, I think this has something to do with concerns about pedestrian underpasses like the ones at Goodwood, Mile End etc being dangerous places where undesirables congregate. Adelaide seems to be unique in Australia in the way pedestrian level crossings are everywhere. I'm not sure why it i...

It already has one but it was supposed to have a bigger one.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I heard a rumer that Noarlunga Centre station was supposed to have a much more elaborate pedestrian overpass but it was cut back to a simpler version to save cost.

I understand why there's not a ramp at Flaxmill Road, and there is nothing significant in that area except the former CFS and St John stations (now moved to Beach Road for closer expressway access). People live there. Commuting involves going to the city from home and from the city to home, right? ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Am I the only one who thinks there should be an interchange at Flaxmill Road? Having to go all the way to Beach Road is really annoying. I remember there being a lot of discussion around interchange placement for the southern end of the Southern Expressway when it was first being built. Beach Road ...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker
The only good part of GlobeLink was rerouting rail freight on a new corridor east of the Adelaide Hills, rounding Truro and coming into Adelaide that way. This would be most ideal, because then rail freight can follow the (as yet unconstructed) Northern Connector corridor and go no further than the...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I can see the point of over and underpasses where it's hard to see trains coming, or it's very busy. However, where it's easy to see oncoming trains and there aren't large numbers of pedestrians, what is the need for under/overpasses? Or maintenance heavy warning systems? There's never enough money...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Is Concordia going to be a 1950's style suburban development where the car rules and the only people who use public transport are the CBD workers and the under 18's? Without a train station, yes. Yes it will be. Incidentally, I attended a street corner meeting with Malinauskas earlier this week (ta...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Many of the old stations had grade separated pedestrian crossings either above or below the railway. Now those are not being built? It seems like a step backwards.
