I'm pretty sure the OTR will stay, the demolition is only happening south of English Avenue.

The people that run the pub don't own it. They lease the space from the current landlord. They could be running a profit for all we know, but the landlord can choose not to extend the lease if they want to develop it.

Re: The Housing Crisis
I don't have any data at the moment to back it up, but I thought most of those migrants would be international students commencing or resuming their studies in Australia post-Covid, merely making up the ones we lost. I'll have a bit more of a dig into the data when I can. From the ABS.. Key statist...

Migration is a big part of rising house prices and rents, but not the only factor.

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
The land has been reserved for a good 10 years or so, but I'm not sure if it was done in stages or in one go. There was a proposal during the Marshall government to shorten the reserved land back to Port Road/Quinlivan Road instead of Aldinga Beach Road, but this was overturned by the Mali government.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Apparently Batik Air will be suspending flights out of Adelaide from July, citing low passenger loads as the reason for stopping services. This now leaves Jetstar as the only direct flight after Virgin suspended services due to lack of aircraft.

Probably not, planning approval is just a formality at this point. I'm pretty sure legislation has passed parliament that allows this building to be constructed without hinderance.

This is definitely not sensational. If anything, it needs to be set back further and retain the existing space for a live music venue.

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects
The upgrade looks great and is well overdue. I don't think the people in the tenders represent the actual crowd though ... Where's Stumbling Sam, Drunk Dave and a random person throwing up in one of the new planter boxes? Hopefully the urban elements are all designed to take plenty of damage, includ...

I think it has been put on hold rather than scrapped until they can find a suitable place for a new tram depot.

Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway
I noticed yesterday when driving through that the new variable speed limit signs in the tunnel and on the approaches are bidirectional, ie they are on both sides of the gantry. You can see this in the renders if you look close enough. Presumably this is so they can close one tunnel off during and e...

Re: SA Economy
South Australia has had negative interstate migration since the 1970s, as has New South Wales. It's been an ongoing issue for both states for a very long time. I'm not sure that's entirely true. I thought S.A's net interstate migration losses only became entrenched from 90/91 onwards (State Bank co...
