Article in today’s Tiser regarding extensive upgrades to the ‘Black Stump’ on Grenfell, apparently upgrades have already been made to the foyer entrance and further internal upgrades are to follow, with a complete upgrade/replacement of the external facade still to come. All part of the new owners ...

Article said "construction works", so not exactly demolition and construction yet. perhaps they're preparing the building inside for demolition? Its a difficult property to demolish considering its smack bang in the middle of the city. Forget the article, there's unfortunately no demoliti...

A fun guessing game: From The Advertiser article on the Marriott GPO hotel: The world’s largest hotel chain has signed a deal to establish a third hotel in Adelaide as it prepares to open its flagship Marriott brand in the historic GPO building in August. Marriott International will also open a Wes...

Update for Grenfell St as at 6/1/2024 showing recent work on new upper levels . Judging from the picture in this link (which is paywalled so I can't read it), the RAA will be moving into this building: https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/subscribe/news/1/?sourceCode=AAWEB_WRE170_MG_a&dest=https%3A%2...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
I have written to Premier Malinauskas about using the 2036 bicentenary as the occasion to get a massive funding boost for the parklands. Let’s see what happens! Got this reply from the Premier’s office today: “Thank you for your email of 16 April 2024 to the Premier of South Australia, the Hon Pete...

On another note re this precinct....those gum trees in front of the festival centre!!?? Can anyone imagine large eucalypts in front of the Sydney opera house? Trees in the park that give year round shade? The horror! Exactly. I often see people sitting under them. Much better than barren grass.

Anything is better than the old run down pub that is there. Disappointing this is not a lot higher given the location. Could be 120M plus “Run down pub” aka one of the most vibrant and well frequented pubs in Adelaide. By your logic Melbourne isn’t a great city because it has “run down” buildings i...
