Re: New City Arena
I imagine some of the high price for the Hobart stadium compared to AO is that they're building it half over the water in the Derwent

Or to put it in plain language, they're trying to ban Airbnb from the building

[U/C] Re: 211 Pirie Street | A1 | $100m
Are there technological benefits from it being within the bounds of the CBD and its 1.21 gigawatt fibre optic network? I was wondering similarly what the advantage of an inner city corner block is for a cloud data centre, rather than out in a suburban paddock site. I imagine there would be multiple...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
It's been announced that Tasmania are pitching for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Their premier has said they'd also consider a joint bid with another Australian city, but at this stage they're putting forward Hobart and Launceston to co-host events. Considering their sporting infrastructure is large...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
I don't see what's going to compel trucks to take a much longer route like that short of banning them from Cross Rd and Port Rush Rd, there's no way that bypass is ever going to be faster than just plowing through the CBD ring route.

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD
Am I the only one who thinks there's way too much commercial instead of open community space in the winning bid, just down the road from Plant 4, and 1 train stop/4 tram stops from Rundle Mall? And what does a hotel have to do with a TOD? Why does everything the current government plans or approves ...

Presumably this is taking up all of the three story red brick housing the solar place, and the attached ground level car park, all the way back to the concrete wall behind? Solid use of the space if so

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
Just a little bit rich of them to label obviously necessary driveways for the BMX park and National Park as major turning lane upgrades, and the only way it connects to the reservoir in future is if they're willing to pay for a shared use overpass over South Rd to the new corner gate. I'm not sure i...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
There's an upgrade coming for Majors Road, O'Halloran Hill. Not sure what it entails, but I assume it could be for a full resurfacing or maybe even a complete rebuild. The road connects Lonsdale Road with Main South Road on top of the hill and is notorious for its bad road surface because of the re...

Also, no northbound exit or southbound entrance at James Congdon, meaning it's one of those worthless half-ramps like they have at Main South x Panalatingaaceman wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 9:27 amhttps://dit.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/ima ... SP_v11.jpg
no exit onto Richmond road northbound for airport access?

Much like the modern art museum, option 2 wasn't a Labor plan, it was a plan made by the relevant body (AGSA, Tennis SA) that just happened to occur while Labor held government.

The dedicated bicycle path alongside South Tce starts and ends in a good spot, and I still end up caught behind the lycra brigade riding down the middle of a lane of South Tce on my way to work on the weekends anyway.

I hope they at least salvage all those trees that are just starting to grow, rather than mow them all down with a chainsaw
