[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
They don't attempt to explain why less-dirty trucks wouldn't benefit from a motorway, nor consider that trucks automatically reduce emissions by being able to drive on a motorway instead of stopping and starting at lots of traffic lights. Refers to shifting freight demand off trucks and towards rai...

[VIS] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
One thing that's glaringly absent from the nWCH proposal is public transport. The concepts released last year already have a conveniently-located overpass above the wide, straight rail corridor next to the nWCH, why not take advantage of it? Anybody on the Belair, Seaford and Flinders lines coming ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Thankfully the 2019 plan did include passive provision for electrification, but I wouldn't expect the Outer Harbour Line electrification to progress hugely by 2026, unless the feds are very interested in split funding rail schemes.

https://i.imgur.com/AlOUjZN.png If we're doing the frequency argument again, it once again needs to be reiterated we know what the frequency will be already. The above extract is from the SCAP submission back in 2019 and it's unlikely to change. It will run 20 in peak, 30 off. Like the Flinders Lin...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
for $50 million dollars you could probably run express buses from the city to the proposed location for the next 20 years. There is. It's called the 254X, it runs all day every 30 minutes from Port Adelaide to the CBD running express from Arndale. It is an incredibly bizarre route to run express so...

[U/C] Re: Ovingham Level Crossing Removal | $231m
Images of the Ovingham train station have been released by the PTP Alliance. They are completely underwhelming considering this station has a budget of $10m! https://ptpa.com.au/projects/ovinghamcrossing#gallery-23-1 It has a glorified bus shelter and a bit of landscaping. For that budget, I would’...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
With Labor's victory last night this one is meant to be back on the menu, seems they never made a promise about when they'd build it, but with the alleged cost now $52 million it's by far the largest public transport policy either major party took to the election.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Very excited to see this one back on the agenda. Port Adelaide is still very disconnected from the rail network, the Port Dock spur will make access to historic Port Adelaide easier and connect whatever that housing development is called. Assuming this the plan from 2018 will be retained, the train ...

Advertiser/InDaily reporting more problems in completing GREP. Project cost now at a staggering $842 million (original $615), additional $127 million blowout. It now stands at a cost of $20 million per kilometre, with the line seemingly unlikely to open till May. Driver training now a critical issue...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
Honestly, moving to a universal fare would probably be pretty silly. Fares are supposed to reflect the ability of people to pay for their journeys, and that's why different classes of people get different concession fares. For example, most high school students will take Adelaide Metro buses. For th...

MetroCARDs are not going to disappear any time soon. The way the VISA/MasterCard system is being rolled out onto public transport is mainly acting as a normal MetroCARD validator. They will deduct a regular MetroCARD fare, peak or off-peak. At least for the time being this is all Adelaide Metro want...

Future proofing the ARTC DIRN is a good thing to do, increasing freight productivity with taller wagons and getting run through to Melbourne on the South Line would be a helpful, even with Inland Rail (especially things like LCL freight). Also could mean if the Regency Road bridge is rebuilt or trac...

Genuine big disappointment about the lack of any bus priority infrastructure, especially low hanging stuff like jump lanes at intersections. Richmond road in particular as an every 15 go zone does more than deserve bus lanes at this monster intersection. There's no reason it should be that wide, but...

Real shame about the lack of future proofing for double stacked freight trains, with how low this bridge will be and limited options to lower the tracks through this section How does this line up with Norman's post earlier in this thread? There are a number of locations such as KIlburn, Greenfields...
