Unfortunately, it takes an emotional toll when running afoul of the 'law', with some.
Re the chip, use your imagination. Or you could ask them directly. They're installed by a laser at birth, whilst the mother is looking away. Only takes a few seconds.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
This makes me wonder if the actual physical card is still essential nowadays. The revenue officers/whoever don't give a rats whether or not you actually have a ticket. They only care about their pockets being replenished with $. There should be an option to travel without a card. Personally, I don't...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker
Adelaide is still slightly closer than Melbourne. The fares are disproportionate. But when there is no alternative option apart from driving, one is helpless to put up a cry.

Relocating Parliament house and Government house
I'll keep my own thoughts to a minimum here. But any thoughts on Parliament house, and whether or not it could be repurposed/or even relocated? It doesn't seem like the most beneficial use of space. I was thinking that if it was moved or demolished, a commercial precinct could be implemented, with p...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
This irritates me. Current public transport to the airport should be given far more respect. Until some point in the 2000s, there wasn't even a metro bus service to the airport. Fairly sure you had to book a seat on a private minibus to go directly there. This is what I recall doing in the early 20...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
In response to the above, I meant via extending it beyond Port Dock, and connecting it to the OH line somewhere near Peterhead. The current alignment via Commercial Rd and Ethelton would be closed. A new station near Glanville could be built. The issue is it creates a second short working on a line ...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
If the lines are to be connected, then it might be appropriate to connect the Port Dock line to the Outer Harbour line, and use the alignment via Wingfield as a T junction. The Rosewater loop corridor is surplus to requirements, and has no use nowadays.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
There is no chance of the DIT getting the contract back, unless all the CNGs buses are retired. This may not have been the main reason behind privatisation in the first place. But it will definitely coincide with their immediate withdrawal. Nobody wants to catch a loud and audible CNG bus through a ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
The Adelaide leg of Transit systems seems to have sufficient drivers to the point where they're requesting them to go on leave. I'm sure there would be a modest number, who wouldn't mind transferring to Keolis Downer with the right incentive.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
In contrast to the well received suggestions of demolishing stations for the purpose of amalgamating them, I was wondering if there would be enough demand for a new station immediately north of the Onkaprainga River bridge on the Seaford line. There seems to be a modest number of houses nearby, and ...

So why was it built as a one lane road? Earthworks are just soil, unless they're actually serving their intended purpose.RetroGamer87 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 12:58 pm
Elder Smith Rd bridge was clearly designed to be upgraded to 4 lanes. The earthworks are already 4 lanes wide.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
I have to admit that first impression is not something that can be ignored. All buses built after the MAN NL202s are appalling structurally, and ride quality wise. With makes of these that have bad suspensions, you literally cannot ignore it when traversing a bump in the road surface. The ABM built ...
