Datacom Connect is definitely not closing anytime soon. They're on a new contract for the APO and are actively recruiting.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I strongly strongly doubt this is an inattention issue. Most likely it was low adhesion or brake failure.
Best wait for the ATSB report before suggesting the driver was acting unprofessionally.

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
I regularly see buses where the driver hasn't signed into the BCU so it doesn't show a GPS signal, or even the GPS is stuck somewhere as they haven't updated the BCU for a new trip properly. There really needs to be a crack-down on it so the system is properly reliable.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Introduction of CBTC and faster acceleration/braking on the 4000 class may help in reducing time between stations. That's definitely not in the short term pipeline for SA however.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Eventually the government will need to make a serious investment into upgrading every train station, especially those that are currently glorified bus stops. Ovingham now represents the bare minimum.

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
Victoria is continuing to show a fantastic standard in regards to regional transport with their expansion of Myki to the entire state, introduction of cheaper fares, and "high" frequency weekend timetables. I'd hope Labor see some of their neighbour's work and start to at least expand buse...

I appreciate the cut and cover idea. May mean a less disruptive adjustment to the Galipoli IC too.

[PRO] Re: Westfield Marion (2019/20 Extension)
"The changing layout of Westfield and retail rent have made this a long, sad and very difficult decision. " is what the Bracegirdles said about it. My guess is that it's just another victim of Westfield's insane rents then rather than specifically cafe competition, there's plenty of cafes ...

Building a motorway right down the middle of suburbia and having massive overpasses is not a balanced approach especially when all it does is encourages greater car use instead of the under-served public transport of the non Go-Zone routes.

70kph is terrible let alone 60kph on main roads. It makes the cyclist gutter lanes even more dangerous, and some roads less possible to cross (ever tried Anzac Hwy in peak?).
The solution is less cars on the road and better traffic solutions, which turning our roads into mini highways isn't.
