Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Talk about a staggering statistic. Rail commitments for the rest of the decade. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240515/65ccfeab674f6fda7b1c4f84bc607f32.jpg Seems commensurate to wealth, forecast growth and population. Remember much of our available funds are tied up in metropolitan Adelaide's ve...

[PRO] Re: 188 Grenfell Street | 64m | 19 Levels | Student Accom
This should've been done before the building was sold. This sets a dangerous precedent for commerce in this state. If the pub business was doing so well then it wouldn't have sold up for a redevelopment. Obviously the former patrons didn't attend the venue when it mattered in enough numbers to keep ...

Re: The Housing Crisis
Did you just call all Australian citizens "stupid"? At the same time, you say there is no point in trying to vote for alternatives to the major parties to advocate or change. majority are, not all we have proof of that from 2019-2021 era I didn't say there was no point I said it was not r...

Re: The Housing Crisis
Do you have a better solution? Continuing to allow faceless men to control who is available to be elected doesn't seem to be resulting in the changes we'd like to see. If independents with different ideas can shake up the entrenched positions, this is a good thing, even if only for a term or two un...

Re: The Housing Crisis
That's clearly not always true - there were a bunch of "teal independents" elected two years ago. Collectively, we either agree to elect whichever party hack the backroom has pushed forward, agitate (which might mean joining) for the majors to choose better candidates, or vote for someone...

Re: The Housing Crisis
If the populace feels so ripped off by Coles and Woolworths, we should vote with our feet. We have Foodland, IGA, Drakes, Foodworks, Aldi and local butchers and greengrocers as alternatives and independent bottle shops instead of Dans and Liquorland. We don’t have to feed the beast of ASX listed co...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects
Field Street is currently being ripped up and streetscaped with new trees etc. This street has changed a lot over the last few years or so with new buildings and restaurants. Now its basically an extension of Chinatown Moonta St.

Kim Wang's supermarket closing down due to a hike in rents at the Market Plaza. This was inevitable given the type of development going on next door, its going to drive a lot of the independent retailers out. Also Pure Vegetarian in the Market Plaza is closing down in June. Devastated about Pure Ve...

Re: The Housing Crisis
Migration is a big part of rising house prices and rents, but not the only factor. The issue with immigration/housing at the moment is with housing costs so high, including rent, housing stocks being so low that we are in a deficit, is that with all those issues making it extremely difficult for pe...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
the majority of people that use Adelaide Airport aren't wishing to travel into the CBD But once in the CBD it is so much easier to get anywhere else by public transport. That is why other airports in major cities have convenient airport links to their CBDs. Whenever I fly to Melbourne or Sydney, I ...

cities exist for a reason central business districts exist for a reason The transformation of Parramatta into Sydney’s second CBD isn’t killing the old CBD, it’s creating a new economic and business hub. Not all business necessarily has to be centred on the traditional CBD. Parramatta is in the geo...

sounds inefficient to me I work fully remote in a company that is full remote. We all are very productive. Why do you say it is inefficient? It's just a change of mindset that is needed It's just his opinion. I'll be extremely surprised if you get an explanation. cities exist for a reason central b...

Can we see the figures leading to your conclusion? Can we see the figures leading to your conclusion? What conclusion are you talking about? My whole point is that I have seen no official conclusion either way. If either party had said: "Here's a report showing it's uneconomic, and therefore w...
