Thanks Rev. Much of that grass damage is because of a tent being in place for multiple weeks, and plastic flooring atop the grass. Not so much a foot traffic issue although that's part of the equation. Interestingly i watched much of the Melb F1 tv coverage and they've done a good job of having cust...

Re: Invigorating CBD Alleyways & Lanes
Plonking this thought bubble here. Good a place as any. I'm thinking of lobbying the ACC to do a city-wide inventory of blank/ugly walls as candidates for street-art (murals/graffiti). The ACC could designate genres per wall (garden, funky, stencil, wild, blockbuster, etc). Get builder owner buy-in,...

Re: Womadelaide
To be fair, no amount of coring, water or fertilizer will help grass survive thousands of people trampling it over the course of 4 days. I was there Saturday noon. It had only been trampled for a few hours the prior evening. Simply not good enough. Sure, some park lands sections looks green as you ...

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
Rev, in some of your posts you mention 'separate bike lanes'. Do you mean physically separated - perhaps a physical barrier or metres of distance between it and the road? or does your definition also include the paint-partitioned bike lanes adjacent to many roads?

Re: Womadelaide
The Womad event was fantastic again this year. I caught the free city loop bus to the event as chatted with a group of people from Singapore. They come every year specifically for Womad and attend a few fringe/festival shows while here. They are festival fanatics and cite Womad as the best of the be...

News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
Another aspect of this conversation is akin to the renewable energy vs baseload power debate. Think of the Melbourne stats above. 20,000 cycling regularly in summer, but 15,000 (my guess) reverting to car/bus in winter. We still need to spend $$$ on greater road infrastructure to handle seasonal pea...

Thanks Vee. Interesting stats. Wonder how much of the anticipated Melbourne cycling traffic is planned to be roadside or separated bikeways

Re: News & Discussion: Road Issues & Traffic Congestion
We aren't a country, we are a small city. There are limited funds. Limited funds means things of more importance take priority. Sorry but your crappy little bike isn't a bigger priority then the majority of the population who rely on their vehicles and freight transport for their goods. Attempting ...

Re: Aldi Distribution Centre | Regency Park $70 Million
just plonking here as it's presumably Aldi related. Driving past today i noticed the Kingswood Medical Clinic and adjacent gym (176-200 Belair Rd Hawthorn) is about to be demolished. Fencing all around and salvage company signs posted. I believe this is an Aldi in the making? If so it'll be a traffi...
