[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
The project is only at concept design stage, so the proposal could still change. It does appear the only elevated section of the new motorway section is the overpass over Regency Road - the rest of the motorway looks to be at grade including where it connects to the South Road Motorway.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Its been reported in the news tonight that cracks have already occurred in the concrete that is part of the extension. The state government says its nothing to worry about. What does everyone think? Nothing unusual - concrete often does have surface cracking when it cures. Small surface cracks aren...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
The 281 is about the only existing non-OBahn route that could benefit from the new tunnel. W90 could potentially as well, but that would require rerouting through narrow College Park streets to reach the existing Sixth Avenue stops (and skipping the Harrow Road stops), which isn't likely. The other ...

Probably the same manner in which they open lower levels of skyscrapers in other parts of the world, while work continues on upper levels? Sorry if my original comment wasn't clear. I'd say that's more of a logistical thing. What I meant was how is the existing structure going to take the new dead ...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
the buses that currently use the track wont be able to use north terrace anymore and the other routes that do will have a more congested and narrow thoroughfare due to the tram tracks Sent from my GT-S7275T using Tapatalk So, why don't those other route buses run on the tram tracks? It's done elsew...

Pit, plus lots of rebar and starter bars would suggest the pad footings for the core are about to be poured.

I know that mate. But they aren't too far apart. And that very prospect makes me dislike this project even more. We are stuck with a blank wall in one of our most prominent and defining locations. Here's hoping they do something with it. It will taken an adjoining development on the site next door ...

I believe that AECOM were responsible for structural design, and Wallbridge & Gilbert did the certification.rev wrote:So who designed it? Are they now liable for paying compensation to the state gov. and/or paying for repairs and alterations to the design?

Re: Tram and South Rd closed - for a worrying reason
Because of the tall and narrow length of the beam, it's possible any significant eccentric (off centre) loading such as the side barriers may have contributed to the beam rotating as well, although not necessarily the cause of the failure in the first place. Called it... although the Aurecon report...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
I've often thought HB tram would be better served running along the footpath on each side of the road - where the bike lane runs: - saves the right turns - saves the trees down the middle - thru intersections you could divert the tram thru the middle of the road on one track, ala North Terrace unde...

Re: Tram and South Rd closed - for a worrying reason
The type of failure evident here is an torsional displacement about the main longitudinal axis. It is true that the beam would contract and expand due to thermal variations (hence the flexible bearings at each end to accommodate this), however the expansion and contraction would happen along the len...

In that video, Callum Fraser states that this building will be the tallest in the state. You could argue that the Port Pirie Smelter (205m) will still be the tallest in the state. Tallest structure, yes, but not a building. I don't think anyone could inhabit the smoke stack that towers over the Por...
