I suspect that would be geotechnical investigations going on in order to provide input for detailed design.Llessur2002 wrote:Looks like some sort of works were being undertaken this morning where the OH line branches off from the other lines - nothing too major, just an excavator and a few people milling around.

BCA pretty clearly states that buildings cannot have combustible materials within 900mm of a property boundary, which is why we have all the blank concrete walls.

Yes, it's more likely to kick off in the new year - I doubt a contractor would want to be setting up on site this time of year only to have to pay for a month or so of downtime over the holiday season.

Looks like a driver found their way on to the bus lane at the end there. I wonder how many drivers will "accidentally" use the new tunnel.Norman wrote:I did a drive-by video of Hackney Road and the new East Terrace alignment last weekend, you can watch it here:

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
The realignment of the road way between Hutt St and Grenfell St is nearly ready for use. Work is also progressing on the western side retaining walls leading to the entrance. i agree with SRW that it would make sense to put the power lines in the tunnel (some where), but the Gov probably does not h...

Re: SA Budget 2016: Adelaide tramline to be extended to East
Removing the eastbound bus lane would create space for the tram lines. One west bound lane is likely to be lost as well.

Re: SA Budget 2016: Adelaide tramline to be extended to East
As much as I'd like the see the tram network extended, I am not seeing the value in this piddly little extension on its own. It really needs to go further than the East End to be of any real use, and will make operations of the existing light rail network awkward in the process. If the extension get...

[VIS] Re: interstate passenger trains back to the Adel Railway Sta
The other option is standardising to Belair Line so that these metro trains can use the platform when interstate rail isn't using it, but then if there is an interstate train using the platform then Belair services will need a second standardised platform for their services, which if that line were...

[VIS] Re: interstate passenger trains back to the Adel Railway Sta
Certainly new track and infrastructure required to make this possible - the current interstate trains don't even run on the same gauge tracks as those that bring the suburban trains in to Adelaide station, and the platforms are not even close to long enough to support the length of some of the Ghan ...

Would appear we have our answer to where the extra floor at the top comes in - looks like steel columns with bolts anchored (or drilled) back in to the concrete below.

The complications with having a crane located within the lift core... Aside from the glass panels at the front, how will they put the roof on the top level? I see a lot of disruption ahead on both KW/Waymouth Street/s with a mobile crane, just saying... Nothing uncommon about this situation ...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
On the plan Its a concept design , not a plan. Its intention is to give the tenderers and the public a very, very rough idea what the department had in mind, without spending too much time or effort on detail. There is typically a far more extensive process to follow before reaching a detailed desi...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
$85m seems awfully cheap for a 600m electrified train extension, that requires 2 new stations to be built, and the whole rail structure will be on a bridge. Something isn't right with the cost figure. Might be a combination of a number of factors: - No land resumptions required for the projects. - ...
