[U/C] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels
In 2018 Labor was very clear that a big motivator for the chosen City Link route was exactly what you say, to stimulate development in the city. Did they end up actually choosing a desired route? Last I recalled they had three options for a city tram loop before the 2018 election but their being vo...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Governments and corporates have extensive red tape. They would prefer to spend quite large amounts of money to make sure they could not be liable for even larger amounts of money. Safety, documenting, certifying, competency and such that simply isn't done in smaller work places. As these liability ...

[U/C] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels
I don't know the exact story about why this didnt occur but it would have been nice if either Libs or Labor followed in on their plan for trams down Grote St instead of the drama about a right hand turn on KW and North Terrace, might have helped office demand in this space but oh well. I imagine we...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
I'm all in favour of the state government taking over for decisions in the parklands, if the state government will also be responsible for funding the parklands as they need/deserve.

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker
The embarrassment is that we need to look to an overseas corporation and government. We have a whole bloody continent of resources. Yes Australia has a relatively small population, but with good planning there is no reason we couldn't be preparing for these sort of infrastructure needs ahead of time...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Origin Energy has made a half yearly profit of $747 million, up from $44 million last year. Origin alone have 77,000 customers in hardship, that is on plans to pay off their bill. Three quarters of a billion in half a year PROFIT. And that's just one energy retailer. Tell us again how remewables an...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Yeah, build the rail line first, or at least dedicate the corridor through the development so that it can be built around it. Best case scenario under this approach is that years from now it's built in a way that is more expensive than it would be doing it right from the start, and will be isolated ...

Re: Relocating Parliament house and Government house
Adelaide has no shortage of space, both un-used and under-used, without needing to expand retail precincts onto that side of North Terrace.

A train station there would also be amazing useful for events in Bonython Park.

Re: The Housing Crisis
Supply and demand.
Except due to the past 25 years of fucked up policies that have actively encouraged people to buy multiple properties, it means the demand has increased beyond population growth, even as we haven't been building enough new housing stock even to account for population growth.

[PRO] Re: Westfield Marion (2019/20 Extension)
At sites like TTP and Marion it would be great to see them somehow revive the drive in theatre concept. Could have a rooftop carpark, with barriers and scanners (or even ticketed as Westfield will eventually manage to get) during the day to prevent people just parking there in the morning and then s...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
I would go as far as saying that if they are trying to sneak a second tower in instead of the lower restaurants/bars that were presented and are more more in fitting with this being a public space, that it should be more of an open tender/offer for bids from multiple parties. That won't happen howev...

[PRO] Re: Masonic Lodge | 183m | 37 Levels | Mixed Use
Objections from the residents of the Crowne Plaza building were always gonna be a thing! Kinda sucks for them, but also construction of that came with the loss of some great venues and you can't just pause progress when it's convenient. Commend you on the double ramps, great to see that access not j...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
Heating is more expensive than cooling, so those light coloured roof houses will need more heating in the cooler months and thus will use more energy on an annual basis. I wonder did they base this decision on the heat map or on the actual energy usage of those dwellings? I bet I can guess which. C...
