[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium
The problem with putting a stadium in the Southern Parklands is that public transport connections to the site are poor. For a low-controversy solution, one of the ovals in Park 25 (the area in Port Rd, Glover Rd and West Terrace) could be converted to a stadium.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Thanks for the photos. It's a real shame that they didn't renovate Islington station while they were at it. Pedestrian access is poor and it can be blocked for 10+ minutes while freight trains use the standard gauge line. There should be grade separated exits and good access to Regency Rd bus stops ...

Ignore my extremely poor photoshop skills, but would love to see a covered football stadium west of the Morphett Street bridge. Tons of room for an open plaza facing Morphett Street bridge and possibly other smaller venues. Build cost over the railway lines likely to be pricey but worth a dream! Co...

http://grogheads.com/forums/Smileys//Brantz%20Smilies/smiley.gif I found this by chance – State Transport Authority, Rail Map, 1980. It’s interesting to see how it was 40 years ago. http://www.railmaps.com.au/historic_rail_map_adelaide_1980.htm http://www.railmaps.com.au/Map_Adelaide_1980.jpeg Let ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
With the construction of the Flinders rail link, that pretty much rules out the possibility of building the branch line that's discussed here.

International public transport guru, Jarrett Walker, wrote about the bus network redesign failure. https://humantransit.org/2020/07/adelaide-a-network-design-proposal-fails.html If you are using the redesign to cut service, there should be a clearly understood reason, like the pandemic and related b...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
Hampstead Road is a major freight route - I'm sure Botany Road is not. However, there are many roads in Adelaide that could benefit from this treatment. Having lived in both Sydney and Adelaide, I would say that Sydney is better at managing traffic on major roads. Firstly, there is very little on-s...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Emirates chose to schedule their daily flight AT THE SAME TIME as Qatar. No wonder they are pulling out, there was essentially nothing to differentiate the two flights. The two international airlines flying from the Middle East to Adelaide couldn't coordinate and make one flight at a different time....

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Also, there looks like enough room to put in triple or quadruple track from South Rd to Ascot Park, which might help with scheduling problems caused by having one line express and the other not. No need to quadruple the track......just be smart about the timetable. The Flinders all stops train take...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
Speaking of improvements. How about some new park n rides? Possible sites Park and rides should only be built on the edges of the network. For Adelaide, the two best locations are near the ends of the Seaford and Gawler lines. There's already a big park and ride at Seaford Meadows, does it regularl...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Something I think should be done once the Flinders Line opens, create two lines. Flinders Line would be all stops from Adelaide Railway Station and Seaford would be Adelaide Showground (make this the interchange for the Belair line), Woodlands Park and the Seaford line would start here. Flinders Li...

Seating being reduced. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200612/c8780b3aec1ce4a463837b91b71d5fe4.jpg Wouldn't the reduction in seats just mean more people need to stand up making them stand in closer proximity to eachother? I don't understand what difference removing seats will make? Most people w...

[U/C] Re: Flinders Rail Link
How frequent is the Flinders line going to run? I would think every 15min in peak if they want Uni students / medical workers to use it and the people from the 12 x G2X buses an hour. The single section of track is only 2.5km, it starts just north of Mitchell Park Station. Looking at old timetables...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
The interpeak fare should be much lower than the peak to encourage a flatter peak. Australian cities have very narrow peak periods, much worse than cities in other countries. This is a problem because it makes it hard to organise shifts for transport workers and we need larger vehicles than with a f...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Transport Projects
Concept plans for an upgrade of the intersection of Port Road/Cheltenham Parade-West Lakes Boulevard have been released. Some welcome improvements, but the bigger issues remain. https://i.imgur.com/6Bs6HXi.jpg There's stupidly still that little middle bit right in the centre. The Port Road medians ...
