[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

From the sounds of it, they are moving interstate... is that reasonable relocation costs? Moving interstate is not a necessity for their business as it managed to operate in Adelaide for so many years. I can understand moving to another location in Adelaide, but getting the government to up their o...

The active crossing at North Adelaide Station is apparently finally operational today. Only took 5 1/2 years and one death.
Nice! How many remaining to be commissioned?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

It’s a shame that the northern end of the concourse is closed off to the platforms. What’s inside that closed space next to the InfoCentre, between the concourse and Platforms 4-9? a hotel basement? Nothing to do with the hotel. This space existed long before. On the concourse side, it’s between th...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I don't think they want people milling around right in front of the turnstiles looking at the screens Respectfully, if they didn’t want people milling about next to the turnstiles then they should’ve put the departure screens in a better location. If you enter from the North Terrace escalator, the ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I don’t think the new departure screens tilt down quite as much as the old ones. Would make it easier to read standing in the concourse if they adjusted the angle down a little more.

For anyone interested. A visual refresh of Mile End Railway Station.

I personally think the whole station needs to be replaced, but that's another story.
So instead of refreshing those pitiful shelters by actually replacing them… ‘artwork’

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The reference to the Elizabeth Turnback is puzzling. Signals and points were installed during the electrification/resignalling. The turnback was indeed constructed around 2013 but were subsequently removed and replaced with plain rail when the electrification was cancelled in 2014. Can you clarify ...

Part 2, a view of the project from Redhill Bridge. Part of the new track bed is waiting on ballast but progress is strong. The new passing loop can be seen in the distance. Some hints of the Rosewater Loop junction remain with timber sleepers at what would’ve been the old points. IMG_3419.jpeg IMG_3...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

On a related note, the conversion of the Rosewater Loop into a greenway has made no progress since its announcement early this year. Interestingly, the removal of rail infrastructure was scheduled to be happening in “the third quarter of 2023”. Between Redhill Bridge and Russell Street, the earth mo...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

I've always been told that the new station would be an island platform with the metro trains on the non-museum side and the NRM trains on the other but that plan only shows one track into the platform.... The plan only shows the AdMet parts of the project. The NRM track might be getting done as a s...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Strange that it's dual track? I assume second track is retained for NRM. Previous layout had multiple tracks past Aviation Museum. From the plans, the second track is for a rail loop between the station and the junction on the main line. Essentially, rebuilding and slightly extending the loop that ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Car 3017 has been green wrapped too. They must be rolling it out to all the 3000 class as they are upgraded. 3017 was the first to be wrapped. 3121/22 followed. 3009 is also green wrapped and was paired with 3017. In the last 2-3 weeks 3017 has been on its own at Dry Creek. It was announced that 45...
