[COM] Re: Victoria Square Upgrade - $24m
On a radio interview just before Christmas he was talking about the improvements to the Chinatown precinct and the surrounding area being a priority - he seemed to suggest that this would include further works to Victoria Square.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Cheers for the quick reply!
This is awesome news - I regularly travel on the tram and it's so frustrating that the trip from Greenhill Road to Rundle Mall takes pretty much the same length of time as the trip from Glengowrie to Greenhill Road. This will make life so much better!

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Does anyone know if there has been a change to CBD traffic signal priority for trams recently? Yesterday I was cycling south along King William Street and and the light turned red ahead of me at the junction of Pirie Street and KWS. I quite often get stopped here and generally the traffic and pedest...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport
We went over to London in July and whilst starting with all good intentions to save money and get the tube everywhere, we ended up just using black cabs for the majority of our trips. We were on holiday after all... Despite being from the UK myself I haven't really used London cabs before and was qu...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
A few days old now so you may have already heard it but here's the link to the 5-way Mayoral debate on the ABC: http://blogs.abc.net.au/sa/2014/10/who-is-going-to-be-the-next-adelaide-lord-mayor.html Not sure Goers is the most impartial of hosts (read: horrifically and unprofessionally biased) and s...

Re: News & Discussion: Buses
Skybus is fine - nothing too out of the ordinary, just an articulated bus with luggage racks and TV screens for tourism videos. Once you get to the city you can interchange to get a smaller bus to most CBD hotels. I think the advantage lies within its regularity - every 10 mins I think from directly...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
It was on the news a couple of weeks ago I think - something to do with him parking illegally outside of Parliament... In a way when I heard him on the radio the other day I couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for him - he's just a doddery old bloke who with every passing year becomes even more out of...

[COM] Re: U/C: Rundle Mall Redevelopment | $30m
Seems the Gawler Place canopy is not finished yet - it's getting a layer of glass on top of it which slightly protrudes over the ends. I can't attach a photo right now but will try to upload something when I get home - unless someone beats me to it. To be honest the thing's growing on me - agree the...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
Have seen plenty of election posters up throughout the city but not one for Yarwood. Most of them, as previously mentioned, are for Haese and a few predictably lifeless ones for Hamilton. Is Yarwood running a particularly low-key campaign, or have I just missed them? Edit - just seen he was intervie...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
Are there any decent candidates this year?, other than Yarwood. Doesn't seem so - it's so sad to think that some of the other candidates are stuck so far in the past. It's just plain selfish to hold back the development and progress of a city due to some idealistic 1960's utopian vision of how thin...

Re: Shared spaces
I love shared spaces - have seen some great examples in Europe and a really good example in my hometown of Brighton, UK: http://landezine.com/index.php/2011/04/new-road-by-landscape-projects-and-gehl-architects/ Since it has been implemented the whole area has changed - what was once a fairly dull t...

I like it - if this and the Gawler Chambers development both go ahead then this will be a great addition to this part of the city.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
Shockingly awful piece of journalism by Peter Goers and shame on the Advertiser/Sunday Mail for publishing such sensationalist claptrap. I knew their standards were low but this really takes the biscuit. Good to see that the ACC have issued a response in The Australian: http://www.theaustralian.com....
