Have there been any details released on the size and number of pools in the new centre?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Wasn't there an issue with the roof leaking a month or so ago? Not in that retail tenancy which is just the ground floor/basement of the main station/casino building - the (multiple) leaks are dotted around the platform/turnstyle area underneath the convention centre. The tradies were in the larges...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The challenge for those retail spaces in incorporating a supermarket would be how to deliver stock to the stores. Are there any road access points nearby that wouldn't need extensive demolition? Coincidentally there were tradies in there this morning measuring up. No idea what for, might just be an...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

A small Coles, Woolworths or IGA in the Adelaide Railway Station concourse area I'm really hoping this is what eventually happens to the larger retail space which is still vacant - I can't see that it wouldn't do a great trade and would be so convenient for picking a few bits up on the way home. It...

[PRO] Re: New Adelaide Aquatic Centre | $135M

Have there been any details released on the size and number of pools in the new centre? I hadn't stepped foot into the existing Aquatic Centre until the kids started swimming lessons and was surprised at the scale - it's actually a really good set up and the building itself is pretty impressive. It ...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Why not Lefevre Park / Nantu Wama, where there are already horse paddocks? At least "government owned" horses are better than privately owned ones on public land. I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't been floated already - I can only presume that even proposing to do anything in this area...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

But as their Park 21 proposal showed, what SAPOL want is not just a field; it's buildings, offices, storerooms, carparking, big security fencing. And once that stuff is built, it is incredibly hard – and in the case of the current Thebarton Barracks, politically unpopular – to remove. It's not real...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Since rapid deployment isn't a priority, I don't see why they can't be staged at Gepps Cross. It just sounds like SAPOL doesn't want to have to load/unload and stage them – which is not a good enough reason to use Park Lands space. Spare Park 27 so that, if not rehabilitated into a more natural lan...

[PRO] New Adelaide Aquatic Centre | $135M

Considering this is a $135M infrastructure project I'm not sure it belongs in the parklands thread, so have created a new one. Feel free to merge it, I'm never sure what the rules are around this stuff... Here's an article from the Advertiser yesterday: State government unveils concept designs for t...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Part 27 is one of the most “natural” of all the parklands - about as bad a choice as Park 21 in that regard: https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/08/07/not-optimal-commissioners-frustration-over-police-horse-relocation/ The sloped banks of the Torrens are natural but the rest of the park is a pretty un...

Great idea, but I can't help feeling they could have done something slightly more exciting from an architectural perspective. This one looks like it's been designed specifically to complement the Birkenhead Bridge.
