Re: Split from Port Adelaide tram thread

My prediction is a little different. Use the existing tracks from Bowden to Rosewater (Grand Junction Road) and the existing tracks that run up to the railway museum. Turn right to go north up Lipson Street and turn left to the west at St Vincent St. Just over the Hart Street bridge turn right, nort...

Re: Electrification and Resleepering of TransAdelaide Networ

I can recall reading on one of the dtei information pdf's that they plan to increase the frequency of services once the network is upgraded and electrified and new rolling stock purchased. If i recall properly they did mention 15 min service frequency during peak hours and 30 min out of peak. If th...

Re: BIG ideas for a little city

Thanks for the link, Nathan. I did actually know about this path, but I've seen bits of it up near Semaphore etc that are timber, through the sand. While this looks great and would be quite pleasant for walking or cycling, it's not pleasant for rollerblades, kids on scooters, or stroller-type pushe...

Re: Cycling around Adelaide

Excellent news, Labor promises to build a cycleway joining Marino Rocks (where the Coast to Vines Rail Trail currently ends) all the way into the city. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/in-depth/mike-rann-promises-armed-guards-on-adelaide-trains-and-trams/story-fn2sdwup-1225840156730 Meanwhile, Mr ...

Re: Electrification and Resleepering of TransAdelaide Network

I live near Alberton station and to me the greatest inconvenience is that I've lost the ability to put my bike on the train to the city. Now it's not too far to ride from Alberton to Woodville, but if the bike breaks down, it's a long walk to get to a shop and have it repaired. What about those peop...

[COM] Re: #PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

The only other square in Australia I can think of is Federation square in Melbourne, and that isn't very big. I think Sydney has had many proposals to knock down some buildings to create a square but nothing has ever eventuated to date. I think Victoria Square is the biggest in Australia at 58,000 ...

[COM] Re: #PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

Victoria Square (potentially the greatest civic space in Australia - it is FIFTH biggest public square by area in the world!) That didn't ring true to me - and a quick check on Wikipedia backs me up. According to the List of city squares by size , Victoria Square (58,000 m2) is at most the 32nd big...

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line

Are they going to do something about the ramps to get up to Port Adelaide station? It's a lot of extra walking around and around when you could get up and down much faster with a set of stairs. There should also be a lift for easy access. I wish they'd release some more information on the website, i...
